The thing that was different and great about Dark Horse is that its progression was not traditional in pop music. If you want your typical radio cookie cutter song, Teenage Dream is the way to go. Dark Horse is edge served fresh.
You're From a Whole 'nother World, A Different Dimension, You've Opened My Eyes, And I'm Ready To Go, Lead Me Into The Light, EXTRATERRESTRIAL. You're So, Supersonic, Wanna Feel Your Power...
All that build up, no pay off.
There was an article in The Guardian last week about how 2014 was the year the Chorus died and they used Dark Horse as an example. It's so true.

This is true. But NOTHING compares to E.T. so lets not.

KINDA agree but I still love the beat or whatever, I literally can't standstill once I hear it
Thanks. I'm even more detached from everything UMG from here on out anyway. That said, I do still stay in touch with a bunch of higher-ups there that helped get me my new job, as well as one of her good friends. I'll try and keep up with Blood Orange, but I doubt I'll even have time to see what you all are saying.
2015 won't be void of Katy, but more likely than not, first and second quarter are going to be boring as compared to last year. All I can say with confidence is that she's being much more cautious and no longer throwing around dates that are set-in-stone.
The general consensus is that all of the Prism singles, sans "Dark Horse," weren't given enough time to develop. There was definitely a Super Bowl song (well, two--you've all heard Nicki's), but she wasn't completely satisfied with it last month. Just last month she was still on "Walking On Air" and it's remixes, but unless something has changed, that song won't be supported. And for the final time, yes, "TIHWD" killed the era. Katy loves the song, but she's definitely not naive about that fact. Hell, programmers in Australia and Europe (except France) didn't even pick up on post label-approved album cuts ("LL" and later "WOA") for testing.
To be honest, she isn't to blame for anything post-"Dark Horse," except the "Birthday" video that wouldn't have been so "disastrous" had the song itself been given more label attention (radio, radio, radio) when A&R and higher-up promo guys were far more concerned with trying to build up three different Sam Smith singles at th same time while developing Hoozier. I mean, she had to resort back to street team with "TIHWD," and by the time the right people were kind of doing their jobs, it was done...but let's be real, it was DOA. When she made those promises about "LL," the singles she had in mind before "Dark Horse" happened and after "Birthday" was released were different.
She sounds good in that video because it was recorded with the acoustics of the arena at play. Her vocals are good enough for most live performances nowadays (def more consistent than TD live vocals) but really to be on TV you'll sound bad unless you're literally flawless because the sound is dry and coming directly from the mic. There's no reverb or anything that makes her sound more resonant.
At least that's what I inferred from some YouTube comments.
People said she sounded amazing at the 2013 AMAs in person BTW.

So no new single from Prism or new rerelease album single...

You can't really hear her well but it sounds good.

The sound engineers hired for the Super Bowl are the best in the business and super attentive, so for anyone concerned about that, don't be. Baz, Luke, and one of her go-to album engineers are already working on the instrumentals, too. All of the instrumentation at the Super Bowl is almost always pre-programmed or completely recorded because of the terrible acoustics, the band's adrenaline/nervousness, and time restraints.
