the reason why Smoke Break flopped was because IT SUCKS, not because she's a female
like, I'm a liberal, atheist, and I can still love her MORE religious songs like JTTW, SITW... but I always cringe so hard @ Smoke Break
when listening to religious songs, I even only pay attention to the melody, not the lyrics because I can't relate anyway. Smoke Break is just a mediocre song musically, the production is horrible.
and even if I pay attention to lyrics, songs like JTTW or SITW are ironically better at storytelling
I don't even feel like she shoves her belief down my throat in those songs because they're so well written - I FEEL the emotions without having to relate to them. Smoke Break is a try hard mess, can't even feel a tiny bit of emotion while the theme is supposed to be quite universal
