I'm not saying that Justin hasn't had an amazing year, but Adele has overshadowed literally everyone in the industry in terms of it breaking the weekly record, it being number 1 for 8 weeks etc. The shine that Justin would have had is kinda dimmed due to Adele, there's literally no doubt about it.

Yeah, he's been overshadowed this quarter for sure.

Again is quietly turning into a nice rhythmic hit for him, though. It's #10 on urban radio right now, and #16 on rhythmic (AS+R).

I never thought of it this way tbh. Had Adele not released and JB slayed the way he is slaying then i'm sure he'd be the one on TIME Magazine cover etc..I guess she did low key affect the level of "shine" and attention he'd get. also his success would of been heralded like way more by media outlets...but because Adele is doing some next level sales figures it makes any other success look slightly minimalist. I mean even if Taylor had her 1989 era up against the 25 era it would look minimal and media coverage of the slayage wouldn't have been as big.

Girl how are they smashing just as hard exactly when her #1 for 8 weeks has sold 3.3M US/ 6.5M WW copies is nearing 800M views on YT 280M streams on spotify and comes from an album that has sold 11m copies? Its not even close. Just be happy people started to like/support him and somewhat respect him after he has been the most hated person for years. Be happy he is seeing great sales compared to his peers not Adele.

What shine would he have? The only thing she managed to block from him was "Sorry" going #1 and that will most likely change this upcoming week. He would still be having the same amount of success Adele or not.

And he would have the biggest first week sales of the year, BIG WHOOP.
