Everyone around him is a creep, from his manager to his father to his fans, so that attitude doesn't surprise me anymore since nobody is telling him what he's doing is wrong. He clearly needs help and advice.

Americans don't mind people acting violent and vile as long as they don't insult America.For some strange reason they are in love with their country and start acting dramatic when someone dares to insult it. (this doesn't apply for ALL Americans,obviously)
I'd say it did it on purpose this restaurant (The Carltons Restaurant) he went has exactly to outdoor floors, one in front (where he was and all the pedestrians pass by) and one in the back more private. And there is also 2 floors inside, and two private tables.
And to have been in Cannes like handful of time already (I'm French), I know this place his HUGE, and the waiters actually ask you where you want to eat. If he wanted to eat outside why didn't he chose the one in the back?
