The original Smash Into You song bears the same exact production, lyrics, and notes. The only thing changed is "Smash" was originally "Smack".
That one word was changed, and yet she obtained a writing credit. Assuming she changed it, I guess it's technically appropriate to be credited. But she also did the most in interviews for that album saying how she "wrote the album" from such and such perspective. I'm pretty sure she even said she wrote every song?
Big difference between actually writing a song, and changing one detail. It's misleading to do the latter and present it as the former.
