Well they were the first with that kind of ft.
They get love from the customers, Sportify is just there. But Apple gets love and hate. Much more love than hate and that's the key. Same for Taylor.

It's not like i'm saying she's Illuminati or something lol, this is all business and PR. You obviously will believe that this was her power, because you are a fan of hers but its so obvious, they even got interviews ready to announce it lol.

Like, you mean to tell me within the span of 15 hours, Taylor Swift posted that essay, Apple's team met and discussed, completely changed their minds, contacted Taylor to tell her the news, and had time left over to conduct interviews with Billboard and Buzzfeed? On a Sunday no less?

The main concept of their service was going to be much more fair to indie and up and coming talent, yes, but every user gets a 3 month free trial, and artists were not going to be paid when their music was serviced by people under that free trial. 3 months is a long time, and people will be on free trials all the time meaning there will always be time where artists aren't being paid. That's where the problem was, Taylor stood up and said something, and they agreed and are now paying labels for that 3 month trial.
|
The problem wasn't there. This is just some PR stunt Apple does like when they leave their new leaked iPhone model in a random bar EVERY year.

I do think they would change a policy about the free trial in a day when the biggest artist in Pop music speaks out on a wide scale about not liking their service, gives some great reasoning, and tons of people back her. That's bad press, and they knew they had to do something.
|
Apple, in one moment, could destroy Taylor Swift's career by removing all of her music on iTunes, the largest music service on the planet. What would Taylor be able to do to combat that? Nothing. Taylor has nothing against Apple and has no power over them. Apple is not a pop girl. It's the most valuable company on the planet and could practically buy any company besides Microsoft. I know we all love our artists, but they can't do as much as many people on this site believe they can.

It is funny to see you clutching at straws instead of wiping away that egg on your face though.
I will just point out that Eddy Cue, a Senior Vice President of Apple has gone on the record with an interview for Billboard, stating that Taylor's letter was the cause of Apple changing this policy.
If you had any integrity you would apologise now. Or you could keep embarassing yourself and spinning conspiracy theories.

He said that he called Taylor personally.

Just a general reflection on this storyline:
Whether this was a (very clever and elaborate) public relations stunt or not, and whether Taylor Swift truly has an influence on the policies of Apple with regards to its new streaming service, it is important to acknowledge that this agreement will cause millions of people to have a more favorable opinion of Apple Music, whether they be the independent artists that Swift advocates for or music consumers like you and me who are impressed with Apple's willingness to compromise, flexibility, and understanding.
Let's not misconstrue the main goal of Apple Music; to make sure that Apple remains in the front of the pack in the music industry. For a while, it had no discernible threats with iTunes as the principal method of music consumption. However, when Spotify came along, they realized that they had to keep up with the times. Although it is possible, I really do not see Spotify's userbase quickly decreasing because of the launch of Apple Music, especially looking at the way it has been rapidly growing.
Back to Taylor: I admire her courage, her adamance, and her persistence in expressing her beliefs regarding the value of music and how this should be reflected in streaming services. However, I sometimes feel as if Taylor is saying these things in order to garner public support from other musicians and remain a favorably viewed public figure in general. I am not saying that she is not being honest, or that she doesn't actually believe what she is saying, but from time to time I get the feeling that her personal beliefs about music aren't the only reason she is so passionate about royalties from streaming services.
I'm fascinated to see where this conversation goes over the next couple of months, as Apple Music rolls out and the digital sales climate may become even bleaker. Hopefully, the amicable solution that both Swift and Apple are pushing for will come to fruition.

Do you REALLY think that they would re-do all record label contracts within a span of less than a week from the release of the service

Honestly, this whole ordeal translates to minuscule amounts of money for Apple.
It's not like on a Sunday they made a landmark, multi-billion dollar decision. Though yes, Tim Cook has the power to do that as well.
