One box in Ranelagh in Dublin South East has been tallied at 95% Yes for Marriage Equality. And as a mark of the high turnout, the counting of one box in Crumlin in Dublin South Central discovered that 95% of those registered had voted.
He's saying that basic equality shouldn't be up for vote. Which is true, but at least it worked in our favour this time.
I got what he said. It needed to be amended in our constitution and the only way to do so is this. That's a democracy for you. And we needed the general public with us, as the LGBT community alone is about 1% of Ireland. Our ex-president Mary McAleese said the same thing. She wished we could pass it, but we need help. And there's nothing wrong with that, because people have done the right thing and Ireland continues to make me a proud citizen.

20% of boxes is of course low, but it's still nice to see Sligo/Leitrim in favour considering that Leitrim is basically the most rural county in the entire country.
Disappointed in South Kerry but oh well. Apparently Longford was 49.5% YES and 51.5% NO.
