lol her singles were still going Top 10 like clockwork as recently as 2009. She's the Queen of Pop. There is no excuse to flat out not play her single at ALL. Like, it doesn't even leave room for their listeners' reception to determine if they play the track when their listeners aren't being exposed to it via them at all. Blatant discrimination and shameful (not to mention illegal) that a tax-funded institution is doing it. Part of me wishes all these people (mostly men) get fired for the same reason, as they are all in their late 30s to 50s, but that would just be continuing the cycle that devalues older people.

I suppose it's still better than not being played because you became irrelevant and the world recognized you as a hack in your 20s.

Yeah, as if your fav will be played at all in 5-10 years on Radio1. They didn't even support her last album (only a few scattered spins) and she is still in her 20s.

Whether or not my fave will be played on the radio is irrelevant. Madonna is selling sex and degradation of morals on her album. How can you agree that young people should be exposed to songs like "Holy Water" and "Illuminati."

Radio 1 is pathetic, but honestly, I'm not surprised 'cause they've done this to countless artists before. It's not just about one song, they basically ban most artists over 40, and don't play them, no matter what they release.

What's the most tragic about all this is the fact that audience measures have shown that the age of the average Radio 1 listener is actually over 30. They desperately want to cater to the younger demographic, as if that audience was more 'valuable' or something, but the fact no one over there knows that teenagers don't even listen to radio anymore suggests that the programmers are probably dinosaurs, too.
