01.LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
December 4th, 2006
I was browsing Oink (RIP) at the time, and noticed that the new album from LCD Soundsystem had leaked quite early. I liked a few of the songs from his first self-titled album so I gave it a listen. The first song "Get Innocuous!" came on, and I was captivated by it. It drew me in right away. Next song, "Time To Get Away" was just as great as the first, and for 7 more songs I was just completely into it. The album finally came out in stores on March 20th, 2007, and I bought it. it's been in constant rotation, and it was even better to hear these songs in full CD quality.
James Murphy has topped himself from the original album. Everything about Sound Of Silver is amazing, and takes some missed concepts from the self-titled album and perfects them. Yeah, "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House" and "Tribulations" are good songs, but they don't have anything on the 9 songs from Sound Of Silver. Sound Of Silver is James Murphy's attempt to conquer the world, and he succeeds. 9 Songs. 56 Minutes. All of it is perfect.
I have loved a lot of albums this year. 39 are my ultimate favorites of the year, but none of them could top the album I heard at the end of 2006. I hope James Murphy can eventually top himself once again, because if he does we could be looking at another #1 album of the year.
Best Songs:
01.All My Friends
02.Someone Great
3.North American Scum

thanks to everyone who has commented throughout these 13 pages. I read, and appreciated them all. I'm not going to commit to doing another one of these at the end of 2008, but I might. if i'm still around here you can definitely expect another 40 albums and other stuff that I loved in the year 2008. hope to maybe see you then!
