That's cool, but really she should be striving to get away from that. You don't want to begin a career with promo from American Idol unless you are competing and even then, the contestants work to distance themselves from the show once it is over. = /

Even though I think Leona will do something in the states before Idol, she needs to appear on the show.
Leona will gain a good amount of US-PR (Which A.I. brings in 20-30 million viewers per week, close to a tenth of the United States population overall.) by even just coming to sing one song.
It could very likely help her with sales + charts as well as we saw in the past with some of the other musical guests that have appeared.

There should be no performances at all by established artists. It ruined last season.

Great for Take That, Mika, Leona, Mark Ronson, KT Tunstall.

Good review from Billboard for the single:
Bleeding Love
LEONA LEWIS
Producer(s): Ryan "Alias" Tedder
Label: Syco/J
Perhaps it seems premature to crown 2008's best new artist, but Leona Lewis arrives on U.S. shores with plenty of jewels in her tiara. In November, debut disc "Spirit" debuted at No. 1 in the United Kingdom - selling the equivalent of 200 albums per minute on release day - and has since become the fastest-selling debut of all time, while launch single "Bleeding Love" topped the singles chart for four weeks. It's tough to fathom that so many melody-free gimmick jams continue to junk up the stateside airwaves, but Lewis' bow is not only a one-listen harmonic show-stopper, it is also hip, soulful, beat-rippling and an undeniable vocal tour de force. And that's all before adding the visual: Lewis is simply stunning. Not since a youngster named Whitney Houston arrived has Clive Davis had so much to work with. The gorgeous "Spirit" - A&R'd at home by Simon Cowell - arrives March 18 in the United States. By then, "Leona" should be working its way to household-name status. A colossal and timeless debut. - Chuck Taylor

"Not since a youngster named Whitney Houston arrived has Clive Davis had so much to work with" - Mariah and Christina didn't work with Clive Davis.
