No she opened with less than Bangerz in the US but allot more globally as she out sold it's total sales in a few weeks.

ARTPOP is outselling Bangerz by a good margin - it outsold Bangerz in 4 weeks worldwide (even without the 58K from Japan's opening week before that) compared to Bangerz having sales of 9 weeks. Bangerz is ahead still in the US but has been out longer. Gaga looks set to come close to 600K in the US this week, pushing her ever closer to Bangerz. Gagz is gaining to the million US sales mark faster than Bangerz, and her international sales are streets ahead.


Only the Queen could be considered a flop as she outdoes the the artist of the year who had two major singles and the most talked about performance

I think it's time that will tell. What if this ended up selling about the same as btw? btw's total was a decline but that certainly didn't flop.

I know she is being boosted by Christmas sales but if this single ever takes off and if the next one does ok she could do stable numbers. Act 2 should help and I could imagine it pushing it to the btw total or maybe even more?

Kp did that with an Ep on her last album and she ended up with similar numbers to btw so if gaga does at least that there is no way you can call this album a flop.

As for calling it a flop now, well i don't care if you have statistics and comparisons coming out of your ass calling an album that sold over a million copies in a couple of months a flop is silly.

If you are confident that this era is bad then wait until we can actually tell.

There's really no need to justify that it's successful because it's a fact that it is. Unfortunately, it's called and labeled a flop because of the media calling it such. There's nothing we can do at this point. I mean, BTW sold 7m+ copies and people still call it a flop.

She stopped being special, that's what I think. Her album is not a flop but she is nowhere her status 2 years ago, and I think she will never reach it again.

I don't understand why people are calling ARTPOP a 'FLOP' when its by far from one. First Gaga hasn't even been promoting her album nor current single heavily compared to her previous ones and both are still selling and charting moderately (DWUW still has no video). Maybe its b/c how fast her last album sold in comparison to this one but remember that BTW & its singles had no signs of longevity while ARTPOP is holding steady. We never know maybe ina year or so this album could surpass what we expected. Look at how her FAME album was selling at first and now its her most successful album.
And a word to all those saying that how a Holiday, EP, or a straightup album from the past sold more than ARTPOP, understand this, back then there was NO piracy or illegal downloading cuz the Internet rarely-never playing a role in an album/singles success, meaning people actually bought albums.

I kind of like that the album "underperformed" in a way, that the critics and the GP just did not get it. It makes it "our" album in a way.

And 1.3 million in a month and 5 million singles sold isn't bad. She will close out the era with at least 20 million records sold worldwide.
