I see what you're saying and that would be easy if you didn't need a college degree for damn near everything. And when people try to get into a college they're too poor to afford it or not qualified.
There is also the risk of still not getting a job even when you graduate.

There's risk to everything.
There's a risk that the next breath will be your last thanks to a brain aneurysm. There's a risk you could get in a car accident that paralyzes you for life. There's a risk that the boy you like won't like you back, etc. But people tend to do better than they expect when they forget about the risks and just put their heart and soul into something, imo.
A college degree, imo, means nothing. Some of the smartest people I have met, and they are running million dollar companies, did not go to a single day of college. Some of the dumbest graduated with 2 majors and a master's degree and are barely making it above the poverty line.
