and you're right i wish he cared about making good music instead of this music that got him a predicted 850-900k selling album. I mean people probably heard those not-decent singles and bought the whole album. If only he couldve filled the album with generic dubstep and powerpop right?

We're talking about the US here and let's not pretend that the reaction to "Suit & Tie" wasn't overwhelmingly lukewarm. Even the people that liked it thought JT was capable of much better (and you're only doing discredit to his abilities if you think otherwise). Top 5 is hardly impressive when you consider FS/LS led with "Sexyback". Are we really making out that if he'd have had a hit like, that really blew people away, that he wouldn't be doing better?
Not denying that his branding has been absolutely on point though (as you allude to yourself). I just think he could have shown he was a ~credible~ album artist without resorting to limp hollow tired retreads of his earlier work. And he would have been even more successful! Can't deny he's a smart guy though.
I thought he would do 500-600k max
