You can't expect everyone to learn perfect grammar, especially when some members are not from America. Nobody is perfect either. People will make mistakes.


Here a few tips that might help though.

This is about comma usage and semicolon. People get confused with these two.


Tip #1: Two main clauses create a compound sentence; therefore, you put the comma before a coordinating conjunction.

Examples:
I eat spaghetti , yet she eats pizza.
I love my dog, and my dong loves me.

Note: You don't put a comma if the main clause does not have a verb. It has to have subject and a verb.

Example:
That boy or that girl

Tip #2: The only time you would use a semicolon in a sentence is if two main clauses are related ,or you would use the semicolon before a transitional phrase.

Example:
I eat spaghetti; however, she eats pizza.

Note: You put comma after the transitional phrase.

Example
I eat spaghetti; she eats pizza


There are many ways to create your sentences.

I also remember a thread of this content was posted before, but knowing that language is always part of our lives, opening a thread dedicated to grammar doesn't harm anybody :P

I always have trouble with when to use "in," "on" or "at," as well as with the use of the hyphen.

I would appreciate if anybody who has read my posts -don't include this one - during this year and noticed some particular mistakes tell me what those mistakes are. That would mean a lot to me being a future English teacher myself.

One question:

Remember / Recall, are these two words interchangeable?
