The highpoints offer hints of what might have been if she just would’ve followed her gut on the heels of potential game-changers in “Run the World (Girls)” and “The Countdown” rather than resting on her laurels with safe(er), impersonal ballads. For the first time in years, Beyoncé comes off sounding exceptionally comfortable, which is the first step to career decline.
