HOLDING YOU DOWN (GOIN' IN CIRCLES) - JAZMINE SULLIVAN
This song is kind of a mashup of a bunch of old R&B and Hip-Hop songs. It sounds like a REALLY good late night mix you'd hear on the radio. I think this is Jazmine's best single so far.
HOT TOTTIE (FEAT. JAY-Z) - USHER
Before I get into the song, I'd just like to say no other single this year let me down as much as Hot Tottie. First there were rumors of Ciara being on the track. I think that would've been HOT! When the final version was released, there was no Ciara, just Esther Dean....about the last girl that comes to mind when you hear "hot tottie". Then there's the fact that no video was ever released and the song was never even promoted. I think Usher performed it once, but it wasn't televised or something.
So this song is AMAZING! It's got a booming bass beat similar to Rihanna's "Russian Roulette", but it gets even better! You got Esther doing some dark tribal chants in the background, some weird synths, Usher singing up and DOWN and Jay-Z delivering a memorable verse kind of blowing off the illuminati rumors.
POWER - KANYE WEST
At a time where Kanye-hate was at an all-time high, Kanye came out with THIS. Whereas most artists would probably take a step back and try and make pitiful songs to try and win back the public, Kanye came back with his hardest single yet, letting all his haters know they can't phase him..."Screams from the haters, got a nice ring to it I guess every superhero need his theme music." Power is the type of song that'll get an entire arena chanting and clapping. No other song this year can rival Power's huge sound and boastful chorus.
