"Let It Go" sold and streamed strongly last year and made the Top Five with minimal radio support (only Hot AC and AC played the song), and therefore LIG couldn't get past #5.

Rihanna doesn't really need HAC airplay. The best formula is pop+rhythmic+urban, it worked for What's My Name?, Rude Boy, Umbrella, Love the Way You Lie, Live Your Life, Take A Bow and Diamonds (most of those probably didn't get very much HAC airplay).

This is not true. Anaconda did reach #1 the first week it was released. And I think it sold more than 180K

Oh you're right. I don't know why I had this idea of "Anaconda" flopping till the video was released and it got the huge boost

Also, this thread is a bit of a mess.
Firstly, 7/11 WAS a hit, and I can see the comparisons to BBHMM. No need for a rivalry.
Secondly, to the people saying "But Anaconda got #1 on iTunes", yes it did, and that song was huge, I'll be more than happy if BBHMM is as successful as Anaconda. I'd be happy with even 7/11 success tbh, although of course I'd like it to go #1 for 10 weeks but that probably won't happen lol.
Thirdly, I know it's annoying how people on this forum get used to Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga's iTunes performance and expect the same for Rihanna, which results in most Taylor Swift/Gaga fans thinking Rihanna is flopping if she doesn't shoot straight to #1 on iTunes. Yes, it's annoying, but I don't think we need to rub it in when a song like FourFiveSeconds does turn into a hit in the end, or BBHMM does actually reach #1 on iTunes on release day for once lol. No point in rubbing it in, they're fully aware that they were wrong, just be humble and let it go. It'll just end up making people hate Rihanna more if you get cocky about it, that's why people ended up hating Lady Gaga's fans so much.
This song might free-fall down the charts never to be seen again, it might free-fall down the charts then climb back near the top in a couple of months, it might stay stable in the top 10 for ages. There's no way of really knowing at this point. People can make predictions, but nobody can really state anything as fact, especially with Rihanna who's songs perform very differently on iTunes to someone like Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga. It's best just to wait and see what happens, or else you'll just look foolish in a few months time like people did with Diamonds and We Found Love and recently FourFiveSeconds.

Yeah, but ATRL has been parading lately how Rih doesn't have enough starpower & must rely on radio to hit #1. This is just a quick little backfire for the pressed ones. No one is expecting this to spend weeks at #1 on the BB hot 100.
And is 7/11 even gold?
