At one point is WAS top 3, i had to re-listen to my top 5 albums over & over again, and then it changed


and yes, I did have both Cheryl albums & Nadine's album on my year ends before, but they werent even Top 10. Since I love GA, i expected albusm that would reach my Top 5!!!, but sadly, that did not come to pass

Foster The People - Torches

THE best rock album of the year. I kept seeing them appear on other countdowns, so I FINALLY decided to take a listen, AND I LOVED THEM!!! They have a really cool, funky, retro style that I LOVE. And I love Mark Fosters vocie. He changes it up on most of the songs, and he sounds amazing on all. And lately they've been showing that they are more than capable of making FANTASTIC music videos



The album opens with Helena Beat, which has an AMAZING introdution. Truth be told though, I like the video WAY more than I love the song. But Marks voice on this track is really haunting. Up next is the infectious Pumped Up Kicks. It's so different than what's out today, and I think that is way it became a huge hit for them. And while it's sounds like a fun summer song, the lyrics are REALLY kinda dark. My 2nd favorite song off the album comes in next; Call It What You Want! Another great intro to the song. I'm addicted to this song. And it starts off RIGHT with the chorus. I love the pace of the song. And the video is AMAZING. By far my favorite released from them. Don't Stop (color On The Walls) was, AT FIRST, one of my least favorites fromt he album. But after listening to it more & more, it grew on me. I LOVE his voice on this track. The lyrics are also really great, and that video The song reminds me of the 70's for some reason. Some of my favorite lyrics show up on the next song, Waste. The verses are so calm, and then that chorus kicks in Then comes I Would Do Anything For You, my favorite off the album. It's so sweet, sincre, and just magical. Love the chorus. Always puts a smile on my face. There is something so magical about Houdini, I cant put my finger on it. I really hope this becomes a single. The hook is fantastic. Life On The Nickel is probably me least favorite on the album. Again I love the intro, but i just cant get into the song. There are elements of the song that I adore, and some I dont. Miss You starts fast paced and blury, but onces that chorus kicks in, its so slow & mellow. My favorite part of the song is the chorus. And the intrumental is FANTASTIC . Best intro of the album is Warrent. Its just a great track to listen to. It's all about that chorus.

Most of the bonus' are great as well. I'm not that big of a fan of Broken Jaw. Intresting song, but nothing great. Love SHOUDL HAVE MADE the standard I love his voice on this track. It's just so funky. I love the intro for Chin Music For the Unsuspecting Hero. I also wish this made the standard version. Totally fits with the album.

So why did this only hit #4. Great album, but IMO, the other 3 albums above it just hit me harder. But a solid debut album from Foster The People Can't wait to see what they come up with next
