I have to say that I'm surprised "Sex On Fire" is 'low' on everyone's year-ends so far.
But anyway, decent set! Cant wait for the top 30.

I think we had The Stone close to similar positions on our lists.
Yay for Ashes Divide People if you haven't heard it yet....WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!? Check it out! Great song.

Attack of the Ambition: Top 80 Songs of 2008 (30-26)
This is where the list starts to get really awesome. From this point forward, there are very few "big" singles. Most of these songs are songs that the majority of you have not listened to. I hope that changes soon.
This song is bad ass. Oh, you want me to say something else? Okay, fine, "Ghosts" is uber bad ass. There. More? God, you guys are fickle. Well, let's see, between the most badass bass line of 2008, the amazing vocal harmony, the very simple but effective drum beat, and the unbelieveable combination of all three into something that's more than a jumbled mess, I think you might have enough to justify why this song is more bad ass than coffee cake. And then, there's the video for the song, which, besides being pretty cool, is the perfect showcase for why I think Helen Marnie is hotter than the sidewalks of Arizona. That woman just knows how to dress.

Okay, now we're getting into the portion of the list that was harder than hell to rank. To rank a song that I truly adore like "Runaround Man" at "only" 29 is proof of that. This song comes bursting out of the gate with a pounding drum beat and a zig-zag sounding guitar. Lemmy joins the song with his vocals, and that's when this song becomes magical, as every single portion of the song is in frantic mode, trying to race each other to the finish line in a most demented of races. Just like with Paul McCartney and The Fireman, this song becomes doubly amazing when you realize that all three men are 45 or older, and Lemmy is in his 60's. They may be old enough to be many metal band member's parents(or, in Lemmy's case, grandparents), but they still rock harder than most of them ever could.

Just to beat home how tough this year's list was to rank, this would have been a top ten song in other years, but it's barely in the top 30 this year. Of course, that could have more to do with the structure of the list altogether. And hey, it DID make the non-singles top ten last year, so there's that! Not much has changed from my opinion of the song from last year. JD's vocals are still the most amazing part of the song. The ending still sends chills up my spine. It's still one of Korn's most beautiful songs. Seriously, move on to #27 already!

I bet THIS shocks some people. As late as October, this song was one of the three best singles of 2008. While I still love "The Fad" dearly, other songs have passed it. But don't cry for Chevelle, Argencheatas, as this song still kicks more ass than an MMA fighter. The chorus is borderline metal with the combined effort of the song's surging instrumental and Pete Loeffler's growling vocals. The opening riff is still one of the most recognizable for yours truly in 2008, and it sets the tone for an absolutely kickass song that has no problem kicking ass and taking names.

How in the world did I think that this song wasn't as good as "Gamma Ray", and how could I EVER think that this song doesn't sound as good? The drums in this song alone kill anything else on the album, and put to shame most of the drumming in music this year. The vocal harmony between Beck and Cat Power (who, of course, is gorgeous, too) is also great stuff, and the guitar in this song, while understated, is very nice sounding, too. This song has two distinct, different sounds, too, one that sounds very gloomy and dark, and another that sounds hopeful and promising. I would recommend this song to anyone who listens to music, whomever they may be, whatever music they may listen to. THAT is the power of a truly quality song.

Only 25 songs to go, and 25-21 will, almost certainly, be up sometime tonight. Now, let's go to the hop! Or something like that.

Well, check out "Ghosts" and "Orphans", in particular. I have a feeling you'd like those two.

Well, I only have one answer for this: there's still another Ladytron song to come.

Nicely done again.
I was going to say 4.5/5 but there is no way in good conscience that I could give anyone less than a 5/5 when Motorhead is on the list.

Ladytron - Ghosts. I'm sad that I didn't let song grow on me enough or else it would have been mentioned in my thread.

Kiss being so low
The Fad & Ghosts are here so it's good money, regardless.
