There's a difference between subscribing to stereotypes and understanding human nature and reality. Sometimes, those two go hand-in-hand. Stereotypes haven't vanished in 2011 because sometimes they still make sense... they exist for a reason.
But I just cannot believe that some of the "forward-thinkers" in this thread are actually honestly saying that if they met a male Britney stan, they would assume he was gay.

I think it's exactly the opposite. Straight guys shun female pop stars so much that it scares gay guys into hiding their admiration for them. Otherwise, they'd be outed as gay. It's not gay guys trying to make straight guys seem gay... it's straight guys trying to out gay guys.
Perhaps so, but it doesn't quite excuse some people on here supporting an outdated stereotype when they should know better.
I never realized up until now how lucky I am to be open about my music tastes and not have to worry about my sexuality being judged for it. I always assumed for the most part that guys refusing to acknowledge liking female artists were just being sexist assholes (and some indeed are, but a lot of them are just plain scared of being labeled gay).
So? If Asians usually like rice would you assume that every Asian you meet likes rice? I know it's a different situation to sexuality, but your belief still holds value in that situation.

Why? You honestly believe that a man can be 100% straight and never have had any attraction to his sex? Sexuality is SO fluid and not at ALL rigid.
Anything is possible. I don't think everyone is necessarily attracted to the same sex, even a little bit.. I mean we're speaking about 6 billion people in the world here. Everyone is diverse & different.

I classify myself as bisexual. Other classify themselves as gay or straight, or many other sexualities that come up. Some people find absolutely no attraction to either the opposite sex or the same sex.
