Gurl don't even try pulling the "oh so she's a woman now so she can't write about her 200000000 sexual patners"
If we can't use the race card you sure as hell can't use that card.

Survivor and Independent Women all came out years before Taylor Swift was even given a chance in the music industry.

You said it was about acclaim but now you're talking about millions of people and how exposed her acclaim was? That's not relevant to the acclaim itself.
|
I never said it wasn't, but an Oscar is far more prestigious. It's important for millions of people to watch you win an Oscar. An Oscar resonates more with the public than a Metacritic score, which means you're more respected in general. Therefore, my point stands that Adele is the most acclaimed artist. She's the most respected as well.

She's more acclaimed than any female in the music industry right now. Her Oscar, Grammys, and Golden Globe prove that. She's also outsold most of her peers. She has name recognition everywhere, and there is global anticipation for her next release. That's major.
Taylor Swift has outsold Rihanna with less albums. She's grossed more with tours from her days as a "local artist" than Rihanna with less dates. Rihanna is a bigger celebrity than Taylor, but she is not more successful. No way. Taylor Swift is young and on track to surpass Beyoncé in success too.
Exactly.

She could outsell Beyonce, but will she have the legacy that Beyonce has? Beyonce is known for her talents. She has a dual-legendary career as part of the iconic and influential Destiny's Child and as an important solo artist. Her songs are part of the public lexicon now. Aside from having a word in the dictionary, she has numerous songs that have given pop culture catchphrases. She is often used as a reference point for other artists and is lauded for her flawlessness. She is one of the biggest faces of feminism, has courses being taught about her and degrees on her offered. She is far past the point of selling because a certain demographic is into her. She's undoubtedly major in nearly every way. If you like Taylor more, that's fine. But there is a huge difference between the careers of Taylor and Beyonce.

Something that Taylor lacks.
|
I live in Egypt, where she's more popular than your fave and where people download her albums, not just singles. OK? And this is just one example. Plus, Katy and Pink are global and not limited to the Country Pop genre. So...why did he mention them as major female solo artists when they are undeniably 2 major female solo artists? See, that's why I didn't really take his words seriously. Those 2 female artists are major artists, yet he didn't mention them. He only mentioned 2 of the major female artists, who also happen to belong to the same race as his. Which is not surprising. I'm very happy that 2 black females are on top, but daying that they are the only ones on top is a stretch.

Rihanna can only dream of having a legacy like Taylor Swift; to be a respected and influential artist, who's influenced others' lyrics, production and musical style, a legacy that's just getting more noticeable and noticeable by the second.

Anyway, he didn't lie. Nobody is on their level.

Exactly. Plus, she's a female who keeps on expressing her feelings regarding relationships and love-related issues in her music, no matter how much people hate on her for it or wish that she'd stop "whining". She's liberating female expression, not through being sexually provocative, not through performance art, but through the music itself. She's an empowering example of a confessional female writer who insists on expressing her though through lyrics in a sexist industry.

It has nothing to do with guys vs. girls.
It's more than just using your personal life. It's consistently using your personal life to make the same type of song that made you famous. It seems that most of her songs are also very unkind towards the men she's dated as well which seems exploitative.
