Well, that's the new trend in "online activism". Just like when BLM repeatedly crashed Bernie Sanders (and later Hillary Clinton), compared to barely even laying a finger on TRUMP or Carson, Rubio, etc. Or all the clearly fruitless "Trump protests" when the same people could have showed up and voted. It's this new generation of faux-activists who want to be seen doing trendy activism things like getting photographed protesting a politician who mostly agrees with your cause, joining a crowd in a highly publicized yet meaningless protest, or even just slamming "PROBLEMATIC!" celebs on twitter and waiting for those favs and retweets... But they don't want to actually go out there and deal with things the hard way, the way it was done in say, the Civil Rights movement or the LGBT rights movement.
Just look at the way people attack and shut down these celebs, instead of attempting to calmly educate them on why you find what they said objectionable. Like, I'm pretty sure half the people slamming Ellen Pompeo probably have a GOP mayor or governor taking away their rights as we speak, yet they neither know about it, nor probably even know the name of said representatives in the first place. This is why we're getting ****ed.

Yes to all of this!

This. And I'm usually on the other side with this, but this was clearly started over people trying to get a rise out of her. I have literally never heard of this woman before today so good job black twitter for making someone you consider a racist, unqualified emoji user even more famous than she was before.
Yall need to direct your anger toward social and racial issues that actually matter. The fact that this was all started over someone getting upset at seeing a white person using black EMOJIS in support of a forward-thinking, pro-black move from A&E is the most ridiculous and laughable part of this story. I think the woman handled herself pretty well tbh.

To be fair, it was WHITE people who called out Ellen and blew this whole matter up. It sucks because it seems every time SJWs find fault with something (trivial or not) everyone thinks it's black people or minorities doing the "complaining." This only weakens our voice as it causes people to stop listening and ignore the real issues when they do occur. This is just an another example of SJWs crying wolf, and minorities being blamed for the fire they started.
With that said I like SJWs, but they have to learn discernment between what's an issue and what's not... actually we all do.
