Okay I double-checked, and I was off one year about Elton John. He had at least one Top 40 hit on the Hot 100 for
THIRTY consecutive years. I forgot "Candle In The Wind 1997/Something In The Way You Look Tonight" obviously had its chart run start in 1997 and end later in 1998.
Elton's string began in 1970 with "Your Song" and ended in 1999 with "Written In The Stars," a duet with LeAnn Rimes. John didn't miss by much in 2000, peaking at #49 during a 15 wk H 100 run with "Someday Out Of The Blue," peaking at #29 in a 10 wk H 100 run. John has yet to return to the Hot 100 following breaking his 30 year string of Top 40 hits in 2000. Also keep in mind Elton didn't score his biggest hit until 1997, at age 50, or his 28/30 year in the Top 40.
Who has the longest consecutive streak right now? I know Rihanna is at 12 years, but someone may be ahead of her. Beyonce may have missed a year (I'm not sure, and I'm including her time with Destiny's Child), and I know Timberlake had a long gap (2006-13 I believe) without a Top 40 song.
As for Pink, I'm very happy to see her still going strong. Her career almost crashed and burned in 2005 when "Stupid Girl" performed poorly and "Who Knew" barely even charted the first time. Her label's persistence and fan demand for "U + Ur Hand" in 2006, which set the (since broken) 23 wk climb to #1 at T 40 resurrected her career, and she's maintained the momentum ever since.
