Nothing Was the Same is such a good music experience with such good moods and wonderful R&B vibes and Modern Vampires of the City has a good slower mix of music from the past along with some up-beat songs.
Oh Let me hear that Austra one. it’s more of a slow ballad, but has that nice beat . Overall it’s a nice song that highlights her voice to go well with the piano and any kind of beats similar to her work. It may be overrated and overplayed, but Get Lucky is still a hell of a song for itself and bought mainstream music in 2013 a real joy. Hurricane is such a wonderful song and the way the vocals goes well with the dreamy light dramatic mood of the music just has me listen to it some more and I liked their album.
Liking your style of music, wish I can listen to more of the good ones from it.
Okay, let's start with the top 3, so, we can move on to the Top 10 Comebacks, sometime.
THE NUMBER 3 IS...
SKY FERREIRA'S GHOST!
#03.
Sky Ferreira 'Ghost' Genre:
Synth Pop, Indie Pop
Electropop, Alternative Dance, Folk Pop Highlights: "Everything Is Embarrassing", "Lost In My Bedroom", "Red Lips" You'll Like It If You Like:
Robyn, Marina and the Diamonds' 'The Family Jewels', Ellie Goulding (8.6)
Sky Ferreira proved wrong to everyone who said that she wouldn't make it. Yeah, maybe she's not a big popstar, or whatever, but she certainly did find success. The thing is that, with songs like "Obsessions" or "One", she didn't find the way. She kept trying and trying, and, around... September? 2012, she released the song "Everything Is Embarrassing", produced by Blood Orange and Ariel Rechtshaid. The song got BNM'd by Pitchfork, and got a lot of critical acclaim in general. The EP was also well-received.
I really liked that song (obvs), the electropop-ish "Lost In My Bedroom" and the grunge-y "Red Lips". The folk-y ballads were cute, too, but a little boring, specially the title track. "Sad Dream" has beautiful lyrics, tho. Well, now her debut album is finally released, after 4 years of waiting. I'm pissed that any track from the EP (specially "Everything Is Embarrassing") made it, but, I mean, it's OK. The album, and this, are great.
CHVRCHES 'Recover EP' Genre:
Synth Pop, Electropop
Dream Pop, Indietronica, Synthwave, Witch House Highlights: "ZVVL", "Recover", "Now Is Not the Time" You'll Like It If You Like:
Robyn, Ladytron, Depeche Mode (8.8)
CHVRCHES, a scottish electropop band, formed by Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, had a great 2013. The first song they released this year was the lead single from this EP, "Recover", which got, what, in my opinion, was one of the best videos of the year, getting a lot of critical acclaim and such. In April they released the EP, featuring "Recover", two new songs and two remixes.
The new songs, the haunting "ZVVL", sung by Martin instead of Lauren, and the dreamy "Now Is Not the Time" were stunning, perfect. The remixes were good too, but, of course, nothing compares to the original. They released their debut album, 'The Bones of What You Believe', this year, featuring "Recover" and many, many other great songs.
