Right, but as I have stated a couple times now: they didn't have a choice but to buy the entire album, which included Drunk in Love, for the first week of it's release, and that alone added up to 600,000+ people who purchased DIL who didn't contribute to the single's sales. But the song was still sold regardless. So if you factor in those sales, DIL is roughly looking to be around 2 million+ for what it has sold. Now with Applause, it's harder to gauge who bought the song and then who completed the album thereafter.
But I'm really bored with trying to explain this ONE aspect of the argument to people. The fact remains that comparing the sales of the two songs (especially when DIL was released 4 months after) is stupid. So if you look at the other aspects of what makes the song bigger Beyoncé performed the song live once and it skyrocketed to #2. Gaga performed the song several times and didn't peak above the first week of sales. We can't comment on Drunk In Love's longevity yet because it's still in the top 10? But with what we're given and what seems comparable, I'd say DIL is bigger. But maybe that's just my opinion.
