iTunes payola IS real though. This is not the case w/ Katy right now though, but it's real. People like Mariah Carey (especially her), JLo and Tamar Braxton have been exposed to it before.
Did y'all know about this?! She must have used a payola on Triumphant and TAOLG!

That song has some of the most complex runs--if not the most complex-- of her CAREER.

She sang this on my birthday. It was honestly one of the best presents I've ever recieved.

I did a good job of transcribing those runs, didn't I?
But !!! I once spent a day trying to play the runs in this song on the piano. It took forever.

Speaking of this video though, I have a question for y'all. How would you describe the change in Mariah's tone over the years? I've noticed it but I never know how to describe it. It's really evident in the sound of her belts, for example @ 1:37.
She went from that dark Whitney fluidity and fullness(probably on purpose to get away from her at first, Music Box as an example) to that nasally, more choppy high girlish tone she puts on today.
She's not really known for her head voice though. I would say it's the least impressive part of her voice, but she's never been one to use it anyways. She prefers just to straight belt or use that breathy falsetto.
