It's obviously white privilege and not the fact that stans always see their fave in the best light. No, surely it's white privilege. After all, white privilege is what stopped Beyonce from benefitting from massive urban airplay all her career, even when she was singing pop songs (like Irreplaceable which was a huge urban hit), which helped her establish a loyal audience and still be successful when other radio formats stopped playing her music. White privilege also stopped her from being able to effortlessly slide into a cultural conversation around police brutality in order to extend her relevance and capture headlines without being condemned by the liberal media despite never having acknowledged any of it previously or been an advocate for any kind of social justice. White privilege is also the reason countless gays and girls deify her every hair flip and brutish stomp onstage as if it were Jesus himself shaking the foundations of the Earth.

Britney doesn't have low standards in the media because of white privilege, she has low standards because the media drove her to mental illness and almost to suicide. No black artist (with the exception of MJ) has ever been treated as horribly as Britney was by the media. And remember 'the media' as we know it today has only existed for about 50 years so don't give me 19th century examples.
