Congratulations, Kitt.
..
My entry took a lot from me to pour out my feelings and share something personal of my life. I am
not a person to wear his heart of his sleeve, but I was ready to do that for this competition. I was
hoping that you would not just see me, but see through me. Edge, I am glad that you could
tell the entry meant a lot to me, and I am sorry to have bored you. I only wrote 1 paragraph
on the video and 1 on the song - and I know you didn't follow my entry really well, but
these 2 paragraphs were needed in order to understand why I had chosen that
particular scene as my avatar. Again, I am sorry to have wasted your time.
Doc, if I knew this challenge was to judge about quality of avatars, I think I would have changed
it to something HQ. This challenge was to write about how our Avatar represents us, what it
means to us, and how it stands out on ATRL. My avatar may be of LQ but I did what the
challenge asked me to do. My avatar is complex, and it needed paragraphs to explain
it. I know you hate paragraphs and I think that your job was to judge the content of
contestant's entry, rather than judging a simple thing as length of an entry. I
am glad that you could understand that it had a theme though.
Katie, if 'ain't nobody got time for that entry', then why did they ask me to explain my avi?
It is something personal to me and I have taken my time and effort to explain it in the
best way possible - to later receive comments like 'ain't nobody got time for it'.
So much for give and take.
extrachapstic, I know that my avi is disturbing and depressing, but if you really understood
my motive behind choosing it, you would have known that it isn't as negative as it may
seem. And yes, I know it is a bit heavy for a forum like ATRL. Sometimes I feel like
I should adapt others' own ways, put an avi of a pop girl doing insignificant things
just to be considered your own. But no, I will never change who I am just
to please the eyes of others and to win a competition.
My avi is who I am as a person, and I'm glad to have it. I don't choose avis so that
I could be appreciated. I choose avis so that people understand who I am. I
appreciate that you know I've put effort in it, so thank you, and no, I coudn't
have put more effort than that, because I gave my all to produce
something that I was proud of. So sorry to disappoint you.
Thank you Matty. I just wish you had specified what you meant by 'a few sentences'.
Being a law student, I write thousands of words and half-hundred pages every
week for my uni. This entry was indeed 'a few sentences' compared to what
I normally write. I wish you could just say 'a paragraph' or '100 words',
because 'a few sentences' is a bit vague to define the length needed.
I am sad to have received such backlash because of the length of
my entry, rather than what I poured into the entry. Thank you for
understanding the entry though, I appreciate it very much.
I'm still in shock that Anna and I ended in the Bottom 2. Our avis showed our true selves,
and we got to the bottom 2 because of who we are. It hurts. Neither of us deserved to
be in the Bottom 2, because there were many entries which didn't have a meaning.
But you judges didn't judge our entry based on their content, unfortunately.
We didn't even get the most 'worst' votes. I don't know who did, but
apparently our opinions didn't matter.
That being said, I wish everybody in this competition good luck. To all the judges, thank
you for have given me this opportunity to prove myself, but instead you proved to me
that I am not good enough. But as my entry states, I will keep on being strong.
You didn't eliminate me because of my entry, because if you read it well, you
would have known it is better than some of the shallow entries you got.
But instead, you eliminated me because of my dark personality or something ridiculous
as length or Low Quality avi. I know you will come forth to say it's not about me, but
please don't, because my Avi is me, and to reject my Avi - it means you have
rejected Me. If you read my entry you will understand what I'm talking about.
I'm not saying that because it was mine, but I still cannot believe that my
entry was deemed Worst by the judges. I wish you could judge my
entry for what I delivered, because this challenge was not about
who had the best avatar. I apologize to have taken
this game so seriously.
I was depressed and this was not what I needed right now .. I feel like I'm falling further
into this bottomless hole. I would have accepted defeat if I didn't put an effort into my
entry but going out after this? I didn't deserve to go. I'm not mad that I'm eliminated,
I'm mad because I opened myself to you and yet was completely misunderstood.
It wouldn't have affected me this way if I lost other challenges, but this one was
very personal to me, and it feels like I got discarded for being the person I am.
I still have no regrets though. I would not have done anything differently,
because my entry was a work of my heart ... but hearts get broken..
To conclude, I've been victim of a very unfair and lazy judgment. Some of your comments
don't make sense to me, because I have done what should have been done in this epi.
My only mistake was to misinterpret 'a few sentences'. I am very insulted to be the
one leaving this competition tonight. I feel insulted because my entry showed
effort, meaning, and dedication. I feel insulted because some of the entries
had just a few lines and didn't mean anything at all. I am feeling like an
idiot to have poured my feelings and shared a part of my life with you,
just to get the exit door. I should have had a ridiculously
meaningless avi with 2-3 lines of explanation to make
it far, I guess. I am hurt after giving my all just
to land in the ashes.
Just know that I don't hold anything against anybody. To the ones who were
rooting for me, I'm sorry to have failed. To all of you ~ judges, contestants
and viewers ~ be happy, and take care..

just kidding...Kavish, sad to see you go - but I don't think you are correct that the judging was lazy or unfair. Even as I scanned the entries before the judging came out, yours stood out for being a bit heavy handed...and just a bit much. I don't think the judges were wrong. Regardless, you're a great member and will continue to bring a lot to ATRL, even outside of this game.

Kavish, I do not owe you an explanation but the underlying tone of animosity is deeply unappreciated. I won't speak on the other judges' behalf but for me, you were not eliminated due to a long entry. You were eliminated because you failed to deliver what was asked of you. The directions clearly stated "in a few sentences" and you submitted "a few sentences" x 10. In the courtroom, you don't see the litigator rambling on, do you? No. He targets his audience, the jurors and the judge, in the most concise manner to keep their attention to fight his point. You were not concise. You were not captivating. You were delivering a rather monotonous soliloquy that only works with Shakespeare. Nevertheless, I already stated in a follow up post that I weighed the content of the text portion of the challenge much more heavily than the actual avi.
Just like I failed to appreciate your style of posting, you failed to appreciate my humor when I wrote "even adderall couldn't help my attention span." Should I change my sarcastic personality just to cater to your one sided opinions and feelings? No. I was as objective as I could be. In fact, I was harshest on the contestants who are deemed the front runners of the competition. In the end, ATRL Top Member was about standing out and you didn't shine as bright as the others.
If the judges were truly being lazy and unfair, we wouldn't have even read your novel of an entry before judging it. Your self-righteous attitude was unnecessary and to say "a few sentences" meant paragraphs upon paragraphs to you just because you're a law student is ostentatious. I have written just as much as you have in all my research papers as a former med student and I would prefer you not putting me, my fellow judges or any of the other contestants down.
With that said, you have nothing BUT quality in your posts but it just wasn't translating and formatted for ATRL Top Member. I wish you the best of luck in law school and hope you try out again in the future.

I'm in grad school as well only I'm studying humanities and working on a 275 page thesis. That doesn't mean i can't write other things in a more concise form. You made it through college so I know you know how as well.
The phrase I used was from a popular gif and meme.
As for the rest, I agree with boyonce and Edge because I'm on mobile. This is a competition and 13 people will lose. That's just a fact.
If things are going bad in real life then maybe Games isn't a good place. Can you talk to someone about it? You may hate me but I was a counselor and teacher for two years so I'm always here to help. I'm sure boyonce would listen, too.

As a former contestant I do have a few things to say
when it came to the avi challenge, I had made this personal one that had not only me in it but my zune in a kind of sass moving way. It meant more to me since it appealed to atrl for its swag but also it being me in the avi and embracing my zune as Matty made fun of me in a previous judging "not team ipod"
I only ranked 9th then despite it being all around myself, thus making me a bit crushed.
And whether you would like to hear out edge's comments or not, Hugamari may have "won" the challenge, but I checked back and Hugamari, Sloth, and EdgeofAddiction were tied for first technically with Matty and Katie judging. So its not like Edge hasn't known how to get through this challenge successfully
Note, if you perview the previous page, you can see your stats were in the end much higher before your exit just like Ammer was last year before his elimination. The judges didn't understand his entry at the time even when reading the description. I think you fall into this case too I'm afraid.
All in All Katie made the best point, this is a competition and not everyone was going to successfully stay in. I mean the judges eliminated rihannafan for not liking his/her? overall package, so if they cannot find your avi to stand out, I guess in their eyes as a top member, they feel it isn't you I guess
Personally I didn't expect you to go. trust me last cycle I felt like MLD who was in the bottom 3 for a 3rd time within this challenge ranking and for ammer to go home but stuff happens. I still knew you from before this competition, and I'm glad you got in so

My dear lord, what's with all the essays
Kavish buddy, it's just a game. There will come a time where all of us get eliminated until there's a winner. No need to get upset or feel down. We are just having fun here! Your submission wasn't the only LQ avatar or long entry, there were other who placed higher with same features. So it really came down to the judges not feeling yours stood out enough.

I see collin was same ranking at this point last cycle. This gives me hope 2

I can't say Kavish lied about being judged for having a LQ avatar, when that had nothing to do with the challenge. If we are penalized for not following the clear outlines stated, shouldn't the judges at least try to follow the guidelines too?
What's the point of writing an explanation on why the avatar is important to us and makes us stand out, just to have Doc or Chapstick say, "Oh, it hurts my eyes" - low score. Its just very half assed to me. If we put the effort on these entries, the least we would like is some effort in judging
