I don't think it's a stretch to expect someone who, over the past year, has sold over 6 million albums, 10 million singles (from only 3 singles), and has seen enormous boosts from every live performance she's had to dominate iTunes after a Grammy night that she's also expected to dominate.

I was thinking more about iTunes position than Hot 100 position, even though Katy will in fact have a week and a half to gain airplay.

I don't think that SFTTR, which we've already seen struggling, is going to be able to stop a brand new single by Katy Perry that's also being performed that night from reaching #1 on iTunes.

It's had a constant decline in sales over the past few weeks. If it weren't for the Grammys coming up, it would have already peaked. That's all I really meant by "struggling". I do concede that it's doing very well for a third single from an album that's sold so much already, but it's not going to prevent Katy from topping iTunes Monday.

I didn't say it would stop Katy from reaching the top, but saying that it's "struggling" is not correct. It's still one of the top selling songs of the week. That's not "struggling" at all. It just sounds like people are writing it off as a flop, just like some posters in the Mediabase thread even though the song is over 100M AI.
