New Month! New Number-One! New Records!
Backstreet Boys’ Straight Through My Heart snatches the no. 1 spot this week, rising from 10 to 1. This leap beats the previous record of The Script’s Talk You Down and Jordin Sparks’ Battlefield for the biggest leap to #1. The song topped the c/d on its second week, making it the shortest time for a single to reach the number one spot.
Behind BSB is the new collaboration from Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West. Run This Town gives West the record for the artist with the most top two songs. West has so far scored three top two hits, including Knock You Down and the number-one hit Amazing.
Big Bang scored a record as well. The Korean group’s song Gara Gara Go rises to #7 and is so far the highest charting single from any Asian artist, beating the previous record by Wonder Girls.
Also new in the top ten this week is Jay Sean’s Down. The collaboration with Lil Wayne rises to #8.
Green Day’s 21 Guns is this week’s longest chart-sitter.
