Also on a related topic. I think Kelly has a slight chance of holding on to #1 even after Adele's Grammy performance. One factor is that because of the fact that Sunday for sales and Tuesday for airplay might serve to slightly break up the Grammy effect for Adele. Another is that eventually there is a point where single sales are hurt by the fact that everyone already owns the album and I really do believe that Adele is getting close to reaching that point.

Adele is still the odds on favorite. I simply don't think it will be a slam dunk.

Adele's clearly getting butchered by the album effect at this point. Set Fire to the Rain's sales are far less impressive than her previous two singles, but nothing is going to be able to stop her ascent following a US performance. Plus, she'll have like 150M AI, or maybe even more by the time the week following the Grammy Awards is over.

Kelly's song does look like a monster, though.

"Set Fire to the Rain" is already a #1 single, why perform it? There's no need to, it got to the top without any promo.

It's time for her to perform "Rumor Has It" and announce it as the 4th single. It would fly to #1 after a Grammy performance.

I'm not sure if we'll ever see a rock song get to #1 on the Hot 100 ever again. I feel the genre has excluded itself from mainstream music. Although I still think it'll continue to be one of the most popular genres, and sell better than everything else in terms of albums and tours. Not that many people seem to want to listen to rock radio, so it's not contributing much AI to the chart.

I agree with an article posted in the UK 2 years ago about the "Rock Era" is long gone, it's like the genre has gone underground again.

Has it even been confirmed that Adele is singing SFTTR? I feel like this is all pure speculation and has never been confirmed. IMO that is the least likely song that she would sing. It's already hit #1 and will be heading down soon.. there's no reason to promote it at this point. (Although I would LOVE it because it's my favorite song from her and one of my favorite ALL TIME songs).. but she is nominated for RITD in the big categories and Someone Like You for pop vocal..I could easily see her singing one of those songs. And if not, singing the next single would be an obvious thing promotion wise too. Bottom line is she has nothing left to prove no matter what she sings, so as far as I'm concerned it could be anything. Or a medley even.

Let's not forget, she's fresh off recovery of throat surgery. Someone Like You is probably the easiest song on her to sing.

Adele already has her #1 and SFTTR is already multi-platinum, so I doubt she or Columbia cares if it goes back to #1 or not. And it's rumored that she's performing two songs at the Grammys. She never performed SFTTR on a major show, so I don't see why she wouldn't perform it.
