The follow ups to massive albums are usually released around 5 years later (Follow up to Thriller, Come On Over, etc took 5 years). It's mostly done to cool expectations. The fact that we'll likely have the album in a few months is pretty amazing considering she could have taken even longer.
I think we have to give her the benefit of the doubt at the end of the day. She's not following up just any old album. She has to come back strong and release another song as big as RITD or else all of that hype will mean nothing in the end.
The privacy stuff sucks but any little thing she says or does is often reported as a headline on news sites so it makes sense why she stays quiet. It sucks for us fans but that's the con in having the biggest album and becoming the most popular artist in recent memory. Things have to change, especially if you don't ***** yourself out the media.
