I don't really understand radio updates as well as I should, especially the rolling effect. I know that after a song racks up a huge AI number after a Clear Channel deal it ends up getting knocked back down in the following weeks because of the rolling effect (where the AI numbers from the second week are like...compared to the first week or something
), but why is that bad?
if people want to hear a song & radio programmers like it etc., it's going to get requested and it's going to continue to be played on radio and succeed. it seems to me that a radio deal just ensures that the largest audience possible hears the track during its premiere week so that they are aware of it and can (hopefully) buy it and start requesting it sooner.
