I don't blame them. They probably realized that third versions are just never going to be as profitable as paired versions, and trying sequels with B2W2 didn't solve that issue at all. While there are loose ends in sad to see not taken into account, this is the better business move.

They could still tie in the loose ends from X/Y and ORAS. The theory about this being a sequal to X/Y in the same vein G/S were to R/B/Y. We still need AZ Floette to be released as well.
