Knowles has been exposed to issues of social awareness since a young child, as her father would sometimes take her into the community, including African-American society. Knowles and Destiny's Child band mate, Kelly Rowland, along with the former's family, founded the Survivor Foundation, a charitable entity set up to provide transitional housing for 2005 Hurricane Katrina victims and storm evacuees in the Houston, Texas area. The Survivor Foundation extended the philanthropic mission of the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth, a multi-purpose community outreach facility in downtown Houston. Knowles donated $100,000 to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund, which benefits victims of Hurricane Ike in the Houston area. She is organizing a fund raising benefit for Hurricane Ike relief through the Survivor Foundation.

Yes. I wish she would do more being one the richest women in music. And Madonna with her $100,000 pledge to Malawi when she's worth nearly a billion dollars. LOL
Pies Descalzos Foundation (Barefoot Foundation) is a Colombian charity founded by pop artist Shakira in 1997[1]. with the aim of helping poor and impoverished children. The Pies Descalzos mission statement is "The Barefoot Foundation work to ensure that every Colombian child can exercise their right to a quality education. Our model targets displaced and vulnerable communities by addressing their unique needs."
The foundations main focus is on aid through education, and the organisation has five schools across Colombia that provide education and meals for 4000 children
She has made so much for my country I hate when people here criticize her and say she's not colombian anymore
but Legends doesn't need oprah to announce that they are helping as it causes sympathy to the artist. Legends donates anonymously, they don't need the media covering them.

Nonsense. Beyoncé used to donate anonymously all the time. Recently, her pastor told her that just as her fans look at her as a role model, copying her latest trends, etc., she should put a spotlight on her charity work so that they also follow her and take part in charity work.
In 2006 Madonna and Michael Berg founded Raising Malawi to bring an end to the extreme poverty and hardship endured by Malawi's 2,000,000 orphans and vulnerable children once and for all. Raising Malawi supports community-based organizations that provide vulnerable children and caregivers with the following critical resources:
Nutritious food
Proper clothing
Secure shelter
Formal education
Targeted medical care
Emotional care and psychosocial support
In addition, Raising Malawi supports non-government organizations that offer impoverished families with innovative opportunities for sustainability. Raising Malawi collaborates with a vast range of partners. In this way, we can be sure the dedicated people on the ground and in the villages who really understand Malawi’s challenges are able to bring Malawians the help they need.
By working at a truly grass-roots level, real and lasting change is happening for hundreds of thousands of impoverished children.
In 2008, Raising Malawi announced the creation of an all-girls boarding school to provide impoverished girls with the means to realize the full range of their potential, to foster Malawian cultural pride and responsibility and to act as examples of girls' empowerment and gender equity.
Madonna produced a documentary on Malawian orphans called I Am Because We Are. This movie documents the concern over the millions of orphans in Malawi who have lost parents and siblings to HIV and AIDS, many of which live on the streets. The film also shows the efforts with Madonna’s charitable organisation Raising Malawi in helping with improving their lives and conditions.
