OMG This is so long sorry
So my feelings while watching the movie were as follows:
Starting off the movie with her being so goofy and getting dressed up was a great intro. It really set the tone to what the movie was going to showcase and what basically her HUGE Teenage Dream era was all about. The silly, funny, hot, talented girl who managed to constantly keep the attention of the public through her amazing catchy tunes. She was weird, but not too weird. It was a good weird. People like someone who can make fun of themselves and not take everything too seriously. Seeing this huge pop star dress up in candy outfits and happily bounce around on stage is a GREAT way to show the public that you are one of them...you're not this pretentious star who think you're above everyone else, you're just another ordinary girl who has hardships but still likes to have fun and live out her dream.
When she says "My Goal is just to make people smile and enjoy themselves. To have a heart full of hope and happiness, and to leave the show with just like a shimmer in their eyes."
I was screaming HALLELUJAH!

This is the reason so many people love Katy. She makes music for people to enjoy, to bring smiles to people's faces. She loves it when she sees fans singing along to her music and I adore her fan greet moments. I don't give a flying **** what anyone on this forum says about her music being "generic" or "bland" because it brings me and millions of other people enjoyment.
In fact the other day a friend picked me up (I was on semester break) and I showed her the new Katy CD. I introduced it to her as an album with a 5th grade cover (

Sorry but I hate it) and she was all "Oh come on it's not THAT bad." and I was all "yeah I guess." So then I played it to her because she hadn't heard it yet and she was bopping to every single song that came on in the car ride.
When it got to Unconditionally she was like "OMG IS THIS UNCONDITIONALLY? I LOVE THIS SONG!" and I was like so happy. Just because Unconditionally under-performed for Katy's standards doesn't mean it had no impact on her image and it doesn't mean people didn't like it. I was so happy to hear her sing along to the chorus of the song.
After that we got into a discussion on Katy Perry, and I was telling her about how it's stupid to dislike her for something so trivial like how people on this forum do and she ISN'T a KatyCat, but she replied, "How can anyone hate Katy Perry? She's like the most adorable person ever!" I wanted to hug her then and there
This is what people on this forum don't get. Katy is the ideal American woman. She's attractive, has talent, she's smart, she's dedicated, and overall she has a good head on her shoulders. And of course, she makes great music that the public can connect with and love.
When one of the little fan clips in the movie was like "I love that when she tells stories about her life" I was so relating to that. I adore how you can listen to her songs and can actually feel like you're looking at her life. Even the albums as a whole.
One of the Boys - This is the start of her career. She's just being herself and just "one of the boys". She's had her difficult moments, but this is it.
Teenage Dream - After the success of OOTB, she's finally able to have her "Cloud 9" moment. After all the struggles she went through she can finally just be happy and be carefree.
Prism - After the success of her Freshman and Sophomore album, she's finally down from her high. She's taking a step back and starting to come back down to Earth. She doesn't take everything as a joke and she's starting to mature both musically and emotionally. The divorce obviously influenced some songs on this album and some of those are my favorites. BTGOG and It Takes Two are two gems that I absolutely adore (besides the chorus on BTGOG of course. Acoustic >>>)
Now moving on, I LOVE seeing how much her fans love her. All the people expressing their love for her really just put a smile on my face. I'm so used to seeing negativity online, that I forgot to take a step back and look at the big picture. People love her, and no amount of groundless ATRL hate and bitterness can change that.
Relating to the fans, I love how she knows she has fans, she loves her fans, interacts with them, etc. BUT she doesn't make them feel like she is this queen they have to worship. She just wants to be that popstar they love and it's enough for her. That makes me happy because that is what it should be.
When they started going back on her life I could totally relate to her childhood. My family is heavily Christian influenced so they didn't really like anything mainstream when I was younger because they thought it was like bad I guess. Seeing her go through that made me connect with her in a special way. It's nice to know that these huge stars also went through these kind of problems. One thing I LOVE is that her parents support her. They may not support all her songs and outfits, but they have never and will never abandon their little girl and that makes so happy. She really needs her family because being a star is a lot to handle. Seeing her parents, her sister, and her brother be so supportive and in her life makes me so happy I just had to repeat it again.
One part where I literally cried was when she was crying over Russell. I could completely understand why she broke down. She was exhausted while trying to fit in these quick trips back home to see Russell while he made absolutely no effort to ever come out and see her. She was doing these 100+ dates WHILE trying to keep her marriage together and when she broke down I couldn't help but cry. The girl is an angel and seeing her being treated like that was disheartening.
Don't even get me started on when she started crying before going on stage. Seeing her in her peppermint dress just crying her eyes out in the backstage room really made me want to just jump through my TV and hug her and tell her that her fans will always be here supporting her. Through her ups and through her downs we will be here for her and we can wait. If she ever needs a break PLEASE take one. I'd much rather her take time for herself and be happy than to constantly be busy and cry behind the scenes.
And the very end of the movie when they show the kids singing Firework, I was really just...happy. People can say she appeals to kids all they want but I'm glad there is a popstar out there who can be a positive influence to the youth. The fact that I've never seen her smoke or put it in her music video adds so many pluses. I don't find it cute and never will. Seeing all these popstars now talk about how they get high and put it in the MV's disgusts me. I hate weed and cigarettes so I hate when they advertise it.
Katy appeals to kids, teens, and adults. That is her strong point and it's why I love her. People on this forum can keep finding idiotic reasons to hate her, but I'm glad I can go out and have a conversation with someone about Katy and have it NOT be negative. I'd much rather her be liked by the public, than be liked by ATRL drag queens.
So from now on, I'm going to try and avoid wank threads because it's not worth it. As long as Katy is making music that I enjoy, I'm happy to stan her. She doesn't need the approval of other stanbases.
