I just listened to "Obsessed" for the first time in a WHILE, and the LIFE I got.
I'd be here for "Thirsty" if it was that type of ratchet bop.
& I realized, "Obsessed" will be one of her most iconic songs of her career whether you use or not. EVERYTIME someone mentions someone being obsessed, they used the song. > + the video is among her most iconic.

Yes! Obsessed is definitely one of her most definitive singles. I found that my friends who don't really know Mariah, they all recognise Obsessed and bop to it.
I've been watching old Mariah vids on youtube for the past few hours and I know I'm really late on this but I am SCREAMING at her Butterfly performance on Oprah.
Omg. This is the worst attempt at lipping I've ever seen. Her overdramatic movements and her literally turning her face away from the mic while the cd plays are too much.
Oprah's face while everyone was singing along and getting their life at 3:45. She was not here for it.
This is just amazing. How have I never seen this before?

then your friends must be eternally 12. cos that song was NOT a hit in the UK, where she has 30 top tens.
I hate "Obsessed". To me, it's one of her worst songs. The lyrics are kind of funny but the melody is so annoying and I can't even have words for the instrumental and the beat
The Audacity EP
1. Obsessed
2. To The Floor
3. Did I Do That? (Unfortunately You Did)
4. Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)
5. Sweetheart
I know y'all come for me for for the latter but it's so bleak

I agree with this list except I think Obsessed is just OK, and Don't Stop is my jam. The others though

Sweetheart was a good song on a JD album that for some reason ended up on #1s and got the full video treatment. It's not bad but not deserving of being on the otherwise flawless #1s cd not to mind opening it.
as for the rest.... Obsessed is fun if not a little embarrassing. The rest are horrendous.

Her mouth is NOWHERE near the mic at 2:52 or at 3:28! And when the whistle note comes, she just looks at the ground with her mouth closed And she really used the album track like that... couldn't even do a prerecorded 'live' track?
OPRAH'S FACE And then at the end she just says, "That's a new CD"
I always wonder what it would be like to be a singer and to just stand in one spot lipping a ballad like this. You must feel incredibly awkward.
I know I keep saying it but I can't help it. "#Beautiful" still amazes me every single day.
This acoustic version is so impeccable. It really shows her vocals.
Don't worry sis, I'm the same way--I already know it's one of my fave MC songs, but every time I listen I'm just reminded of how perfect it really is. Miguel + MC is such a dream collabo to me. I really hope they somehow work together again. They need to be the new Rihanna + Eminem.
That acoustic version literally brought tears to my eyes Such a beautiful song.
