WRITING SAMPLE
People seemed to have fun with this last season, so I've brought it back.
For this round, you need to write the following:
- The full lyrics to any song currently in the top 40 of the Hot 100 (use Genius)
- Every OTHER sentence in the 1st 2 paragraphs of this thread's OP, beginning with the 1st sentence
- The following paragraph:
"Spotify activity decreased modestly in June, as the effect of Views's release wore off and the music industry entered summer, traditionally the least active portion of the calendar year. However, activity near the top of the charts decreased significantly more than overall activity; for example, the average plays of the T10 decreased by 8.8% from May, but those of the T200 decreased by a slim 3.1%. The top 10 eclipsed 10M plays just 8 times (27% of days) in June, compared to 25 times (81% of days) in May. Meanwhile, the top 200 reached the 55M mark 13 times (43%), compared to 17 times (55%) in May. These statistics likely indicate that Spotify is continuing to grow in users, but despite that, the most popular songs were not being streamed as much (which, tying back to Views songs finally falling down the Spotify charts, makes some sense). It is also notable that the ranges and standard deviations for all of the "total plays" value sets represent sizeable decreases from May, which marked a second consecutive month of steady increases. For the first time in Spotify's history, the entire top 200 recorded at least 100K plays on every day of a month (it's been 55 days since it didn't record 100K). Additionally, the day with the fewest songs above 200K plays in June (the 13th), 85 songs reached that number. In May, 3 days had fewer 200K songs, and in April that figure was 5."
