Yea, it's true! I'm kinda bummed cause the majority of the album consists of tracks we've already heard (thanx to all the singles plus b-sides they included) but 'I AM ME' was that way aswell and still turned out great so I have some hope.
& yea, I agree the album cover is much better. 'I AM ME' looked like they took a picture of Time Square and cropped him in later
I don't use it, his face creeps me out and it looks so cheap. The singles had way better covers
Yeah, I think there will be only 7 new tracks (unless I missed anything), but I'm excited regardless.
I'm glad Universal seems to be investing in her though.
I'm kinda shocked Sony dropped her. They have plenty acts who sell less than her still on the label.
IMO her race had to play some kind of factor in that. I mean just like you said people were selling less than her
Eh. I doubt race had to do with it especially since she had a string of hit albums with Sony from 2002-2007.
Even her best album from 2009 did fairly well.
Maybe her 2010 studio album selling 8k total was the final nail in the coffin
& from what I've seen Japan is way more open to blacks than other Asian countries.

@Britfan How is JAPONESQUE doing I haven't been keeping up?
Debuted at #1 like Belle said. Sold 93k first week but we have to remember that after December she went into pregnancy leave mode and did no promo the month of the album release and Avex didn't book any tie-ins for her album tracks either. So far however it's been having more longevity than Dejavu despite the lower first week. Total sales should be in the 160-200k range depending how it things go from here and if they finally decide to do some promo. Hopefully she comes back with a bang in December with her comeback single and planned 30th birthday special concert.
Speaking of charts UNLOCKED fell out of the Top 20 daily album charts today. JAPONESQUE might end up selling more than UNLOCKED this week. Doesn't look like she'll make it past 10k for the first week which is a shame since MAGAZINE did 16k and this is album is SO much better.

YG isn't even trying tbh, first they released a remake as their debut single. And now an entire album made of remakes with only one new track.
He should take notes from SME, and release an original album so International/Korean fans would buy it too.
