At Japan's most popular music show, ミュージックステーション (MUSIC STATION in English), special performance with an special guest vocalist - Owl City was mostly preaching to the faithful who fell for her music a year ago, but those who made the trip found it well worth the trouble.
The performance of "Up All Night" with Owl City (the lead single from Owl City's album) described as "excellent" and being mostly praised for how it reflected Foxes and Adam's determination to keep pushing creatively — a trait Carl Lennon of the L.A. Times described as "rare among today's popstars in the music industry".
Toronto Daily described the performance as a "happy-party-at-the-fair romp".
The Guardian suggested that Foxes performance was "hard to fathom", given the frequency with which she alternates "simple keyboards-based ballads" and "quirky new J-poppy eletronic numbers".
Foxes single "Hearts & Daggers" is out on stores now along with her new single "Up All Night" with Owl City.
The new worldwide edition of Rolling Stone hit stands everywhere today featuring a sexy and mature Britney Spears on the cover. Praising Britney as a "Pop Queen" and the "Pop Star Of The Century", the magazine clearly focuses on promoting the buxom blonde. RollingStone claims that it is their sexiest issue and the pictures on the inside certainly do not disappoint.
Spears looks like a bonafide sex goddess as she sheds clothing to reveal her incredibly fit and beautiful body. The cover doesn't lie, this will go down in history as one of Rolling Stone's sexiest issues ever.
Inside the magazine:
Britney talks about her upcoming album, upcoming music video, new song, documentary, performances, being a sex icon, the pepsi deal, and more.
On being a sex icon:
I think it's very flattering to be called a sex icon, I don't feel like a sex goddess or whatever people are calling me. I mean it's super sweet and it's so nice to hear that people admire you for your body and want to achieve a similar body type so I of course take being called a "sex icon" in a positive way but I don't feel like a sex icon I mean I sit at some on saturday nights and eat cheetos while I watch re-runs of my favorite TV shows so maybe that's why I don't feel like a sex icon. I do like over 1000 ab workouts a day so I guess that helps kinda mold my body. I also do a lot of rehearsing and performing so that keeps my legs pretty worked out and I like to lift weights, I'm no body builder but I can definitely hold my own. So I really mold my body in those three ways mostly, on top of eating healthy and drinking tons of water.
On the new song "Gimme Your Best":
I love it. I love love love it. I mean I wrote most of it so it was just a really fun experience writing a straight up pop song. I love the lyrics, I love the message because I totally feel like I'm a valuable woman and I should be treasured you know what I mean, I should be treated like a queen when a guy wants to be with me. I definitely feel that way so Gimme Your Best is basically saying you know I'm not just any other girl. I'm a sexy, powerful, strong woman and if you want me you're gonna have to give it your best shot, I'm not interested in tacky pick up lines or fake guys. I'm looking for the real deal. I think it's a very empowering song for all females to not just take whatever comes there way but to demand for more and not give a guy what he wants unless he earns it!
On her recent performances:
I just have so much fun on stage seriously. I become a different person when I walk up there and I'm rising up from under the ground or out of a plane or appearing through smoke or whatever it is I'm doing! Once I hit that stage I'm a totally different person. Me in my photoshoots, videos, performances, etc.. that is Britney Spears. Me at home is Britney Jean. So when I go onto that stage I become the buxom blonde, the so called pop queen, Britney Spears. I just let it all out, it's like I'm acting the part of a sexy vixen who knows how to move and shake what she's got. I just become this character that is totally unlike me and I give it my all, I dance my ass off, I kick guys around, I just love it. I love being Britney Spears on stage, I love performing.
On her upcoming album:
The album is sexy, dancey, fun and just totally pop. There's literally one emotional song and even that is a mid-tempo. The whole album is just full of fun pop music that makes you wanna dance, f**k, and have a good time. It's a classic Britney record for sure and my personal favorite. Gimme Your Best is definitely a highlight of the album but there are so many good songs that are potential singles. I'm gonna have trouble picking the next few singles, actually. There's also a collaboration with Rihanna on there and maybe one or two other collabs I can't reveal just yet.
On her upcoming music video:
Oh gosh, it's definitely a wild one.. yeah. The video for Gimme Your Best definitely has one or two "omg" scenes in it for sure, it's a sexy video but there's definitely shocking moments in there which I think will definitely be talked about after the video comes out. Gimme Your Best has to be sexy I mean it's just a song about being so hot that a guy has to do everything for you so why shouldn't the video be sexy? It would be going against the message of the song if the video was lame. It'll be hot, sexy, cute, entertaining, shocking, controversial. Basically, everything you should usually expect from a Britney video.
On the documentary:
I'm still recording now I mean the process is kinda grueling. I'm being recorded 24/7 literally, the cameras never stop rolling. I even have hidden cameras in my house that record audio and video constantly so it's really crazy. It's just to keep the documentary updated and give my fans a true glimpse of my life and what I seriously do on a day to day basis so I'm happy to do it for the fans but I gotta be honest, it gets annoying having a camera in your face all the time. The documentary is really good so far and I'm so excited for fans to see it, it's not even done yet.. as we get closer to the album release more and more stuff is gonna be added on so the documentary might end up being like an hour and a half or two hours long.
On the pepsi deal:
I love pepsi so it's always fun to do commercials and photoshoots and promotional spots for something you actually like. I mean pepsi is delicious but besides that the crew is always super amazing to work with, pepsi sends me gifts after the TV spots air and stuff like that. The corporation is just really sweet to me unlike other companies have been in the past so I definitely love teaming up with Pepsi, it's really a win win situation I mean they say they love to have me on their advertisements and I get to play my new music on the commercials so it's a nice partnership for sure. I'll definitely continue to work with Pepsi as long as they want to continue working with me because we're a good team!
Zedd appeared on the Sirius XM radio station BPM to promote his new song, "Slay," and announce his new deal with the station to play his song every hour on the hour. BPM host Ben Harvey interviewed Zedd about things such as his recent success.
Harvey: So your new single is currently sitting on the top of iTunes. It reached that in how many minutes after its release?
Zedd: 29 minutes! This surprised everyone I know and the EDM community as a whole. This doesn't usually happen to dance songs, which usually find success mainly on radio. The fact that it's still number one is amazing.
Harvey: I was definitely taken by surprise when I heard the news. Anyway, I was wondering what the inspiration was behind "Slay."
Zedd: It was actually Lady Gaga. I had actually made the song for ARTPOP last summer, but she told me that I needed to keep it and release it as a single. I didn't think it fit on Clarity, so I left it off the deluxe version and saved it for my new album.
Harvey: Does this mean "Stay the Night" was a last-minute addition?
Zedd: No, and neither was "Push Play." The two remixes on there were not originally supposed to be on the album, but after I decided to save "Slay" for later, I added them to give everyone something extra.
Harvey: I think it's time for a song. How about G.U.Y.?
Zedd: Sounds like a plan! [laughs]
[ G.U.Y. by Lady Gaga plays. We return to the interview right after. ]
Harvey: We are back with Zedd! So, Zedd, are there any other songs you've worked on with Gaga that haven't been released?
Zedd: Yes, there's Onion Girl. I don't believe that one will ever be released. There are other songs that I'm thinking either she or I will release, so I won't reveal the names of them.
Harvey: What was working with Gaga like?
Zedd: Throughout the whole process, she was extremely nice. During the Born this Way Ball, we were unable to actually work together, so we just sent audio back and forth. After her hip injury, we had plenty of time to work together and we made lots of demos that never made it past that phase. We wrote about 25 songs together, but only 8 were finished; only three made it onto the album.
Harvey: I see. I think it's time for a song now?
Zedd: Since I produced it, let's play Drowning from Rihanna's new album, Sex Diary.
[ Drowning by Rihanna plays. Right after, the Zedd remix of Medusa plays. Back to the interview. ]
Harvey: The Medusa remix was a nice surprise! It's getting a lot of airplay here on BPM actually.
Zedd: Yes, Rih is very happy about that.
Harvey: I know it was announced that you are collaborating with Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Samantha J on your new album. Are there any other collaborations you would like to announce?
Zedd: Yes; Britney Spears, Kesha, and Foxes will also make appearances on the album.
Harvey: Well, is there anything you want to say about the new album?
Zedd: Yes; it will be called Serenity. Release date will either be the 13th or the 20th.
Harvey: Interesting. Is the name based on Clarity?
Zedd: Yes, I'm planning a trilogy. Clarity, Serenity, and then something else for the third album.
Harvey: One last question before you go: will "Find You" be on the album?
Zedd: Not sure yet. I'll decide soon!
Harvey: Thank you for stopping by for this interview!
Zedd: No, thank you! Before I go, I just want to say that my new single "Slay" will play every hour on the hour right here on BPM!
Harvey: That was Zedd, everyone, and here is his new single, "Slay!"
[ Slay plays. ]
Zedd also performed on the TODAY Show this morning and is scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon tonight.
Host: Today we have Danity Kane in the studio, who just released their new single "Lemonade" today. Congratulations girls!
Danity Kane: Thank you!
Host: So everyone wants to know - what inspired "Lemonade"?
Aubrey: Well, coming back as DK3, we just wanted to bring something real and hot for the summer. And what's real and hot - is lemonade. It's almost a metaphor, but it's kinda literal too. Dawn actually co-wrote the song with a friend of her's named Soaky Russell.
Dawn: Yes, we wrote it in about two hours and then the next day we called Tyga, asked him to feature, and then we wrote his verse.
Host: Are you guys actually close with Tyga?
Dawn: Not really, but him and I have spoken in the past when I used to go on The Breakfast Club a lot.
Shannon: Plus he's an extremely talented rapper, all three of us are definitely fans.
Dawn: Yeah, we knew he'd be the perfect feature for this track.
Host: So why would you pick "Lemonade" as the lead single to kick off this era?
Dawn: Well actually, as we've hinted in the past, this isn't really a full-on era, but we are releasing a project.
Aubrey: And like I said, we wanted something that's just extremely summery.
Shannon: It also has this vibe which is the new Danity Kane - going back to our original roots and mixing in with the new sounds of today. We were very inspired by Clipse's 2002 song "Grindin'", which was produced by The Neptunes, and we sampled it but with the help of The Stereotypes, we kinda made it fresh and our own.
Host: Is our next project a creation of The Stereotypes?
Aubrey: Absolutely. I'm not sure if everybody knows this, but The Stereotypes is responsible for our biggest hit, "Damaged". And we worked with them a lot on our 2013/Quartet album, they're our go-to-guys. They're the best team in the world.
Host: What can expect to hear thematically with this new project?
Dawn: Thematically, it's all about our fans. We wanted to do material customized for them, they were our main inspiration. We've got some songs cooked up, all of them are so different from one another but we know that our DediKated Crew will go insane over them. They seem to really love "Lemonade", so we're confident they'll love this new project.
Host: Do you girls actually like the solo material y'all have released over the years?
Shannon: Yes!
Dawn: I love this group because we're all so talented, Shannon and Aubrey really released amazing material.
Aubrey: Aw, thank you!
Shannon: Actually, we did some of our solo songs when we played at Summerfest the other day.
Host: I was going to get to that - how was that?
Dawn: The energy, the vibe of the crowd - that's what keeps us going and going. I mean, they were going all out to the music. We never take them for granted.
Host: There's actually one question I'd like to ask which I don't think anyone's asked you girls yet - how's Clare Bowen and Céline Dion doing?
Aubrey: My God, my God. Those girls are fire. They're working around the clock, day after day.
Dawn: I'm telling y'all, they are cooking up some hot tea. I mean you guys know what to expect from Céline, she's going bigger and better than ever; but Clare, oh my God... I didn't expect her to be as talented as she is.
Host: Can we expect any type of collaboration between any of those two coming?
Aubrey: Not at the moment, no. We're just so busy promoting and after we promote we're doing this tour we're currently making, so I don't think we'll have one time.
Shannon: But speaking of collaborations, we were at the label headquarters just hangin' the other day, and we stopped by and checked with Céline and she's actually writing this collaboration for two artists and it sounds great so far.
Host: So the CAL Chart came out just a bit ago - what do y'all think?
Shannon: Can I just say I'm so happy Azealia got #1! I know I'm a bit of a Country geek, but I love my Rap too. And it's her first #1, that's something so special she must be so happy.
Host: Do you guys think you'll hit #1 with something this partial era?
Dawn: Hopefully, a #1 of something would be fantastic. But we're already blessed as is, we're just trying to give the fans what they want and perform our asses off, ha!
Host: Well here's a little bonus, "Lemonade" is currently in the Top Five in over forty countries on iTunes so congratulations on that!
Danity Kane: Wow!
Host: Are you girls going to try breaking out and becoming a bit global? I mean no insult, but your last two eras mainly succeeded here in America and there wasn't too much cash coming from the outside.
Aubrey: We're definitely exploring options to breaking into certain markets.
Shannon: There's one song which we're gonna release as a single which really has a European-Dance sound to it, we think it'd do really well over there.
Dawn: We're also exploring lots of Asia, because a lot of these groups that are hot right now are either five members or four members. A female trio hasn't succeeded a lot in quite some time, so we're really trying to rock the boat again and we just pray our music can do that.
Host: Before we go - what are you girls most excited for in the next month?
Shannon: I'm definitely excited to attend Aundrea's wedding actually.
Aubrey: Oh my God, yeah!
Shannon: But musically, I'm excited to just release our project. We've put lots of energy and love into it.
Dawn: I'd love to be performing live a lot more. Just looking into the horizon of the crowd is something really, really special.
Aubrey: I'm excited to hit the Award Shows here. I love getting all dressed up and show stopping the cameras! *Sings a bit of "Show Stopper"*
Host: Well thanks so much for being here with us, we're so excited for this "project" that's coming!
Danity Kane: Thank you!
Host: You guys can go online and purchase Danity Kane's new single "Lemonade" featuring Tyga right now! Bye!
Danity Kane: Bye!
Coming back to the place that really boosted their biggest hit to date, "Damaged", Danity Kane is making an epic, grand comeback to radio this week now that "Lemonade" is officially released. This starts with a huge radio deal. Since the song is an Urban-Pop crossover gem, many different formats have agreed to support the song. Also, since it is Danity Kane, big stations will put the song through on power rotation. The Tyga feature also really gives them a boost in the Urban market. The song will be pushed on Pop, Urban, Urban AC, Rhythm, HAC and Latin Urban stations. However, since the song was uploaded last Thursday, some stations played it a bit early, causing the song to already have a starting 3.2 Million audience impressions this week. At the end of the week, hopefully Danity Kane will be nearing 30 Million audience impressions. You can request "Lemonade" at your local station and also purchase the song online!
KERI HILSON drops by Today, promotes "Forever" while throwing shade
Monday morning Keri Hilson dropped by the Today Show to talk about her return to music and her BET Awards performance yesterday and Keri did just that! Although she mentioned no names, she definitely threw some shade throughout the interview, even to one of the hosts. And just wait till you hear what she said about the Beyonce beef! The interview with Kathie Lee & Hoda can be found below:
Kathie Lee: So Keri, how is it finally being back with new music? Keri: It feels good you know, I'm excited I was able to do in the way I did. Nobody really saw it coming so to get the reaction that I've gotten has been cool.
Hoda: What's the reaction been? I haven't heard anything about it. *laughs* Keri: Well HOda, the song is currently chilling at #2 on iTunes, something you'll never see. It's also been getting great early airplay on the radio, something else you'll never see. Next question. *laughs*
Kathie Lee: Ooh, moving on. Tell us about your new single "Forever." Keri: Well with this song I wanted to do something I've never done before. This is a sound I've never done before. I've never sung about being crazy in love before so I really just wanted to do something different. "Forever" is about being so in love with your partner that you wanna be with them forever but problems constantly mess up the relationship. You just want the relationship to work and no matter how hard you try, something always messes up. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to that because it's a real song. It's relatable. I'm not singing about having my fans clap for me or having sex in the back of a limo or roaring through the jungle like a lion, it's about love, something everyone experiences.
Kathie Lee: Sounds like you're talking about some certain popstars with that last sentence, wanna say any names? Keri: I'm not talking about anyone, the truth is the truth.
Hoda:How did you enjoy performing at the BET Awards? Keri: It was a blast, HOda! I loved performing all my old hits as well as my new one. It's pretty unbelievable to see all the success I've had in the past. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same here one day.
Kathie Lee: Does the beef between you and Beyonce still exist? Keri: Who?
Kathie Lee: Beyonce. Beyonce Knowles. Keri: I don't know her.
Hoda: She doesn't know who the Queen— Keri: The Queen is sitting right here. You tried though.
Kathie Lee: Well, what can we expect from your new album? Keri: My new album will be filled with a lot of new sounds. Right now we're working on getting the final tracklist together and working out all the features. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see who I have on this album. I have another track coming out soon but for now "Forever" is the focus.
Kathie Lee: What's the name of this album? Keri: I actually haven't came up with one yet. I have a couple of ideas but I might let the fans decide. I don't know yet. There's still time to think about that.
Hoda: Thanks for your time Keri, it was nice talking to you. Everyone, make sure you go buy Keri Hilson's new single "Forver" on iTunes now. Keri: It was nice talking to you as well, Kathie.
Britney Spears was the unexpected surprise guest host of Monday Night RAW Tonight. Monday Night Raw started with "Gimme Your Best" playing as Britney Spears came down to the ring to announce she was hosting the show, fans were shocked and pleased around the world as #BritneyGuestHostRaw trended worldwide. "Gimme Your Best" lasted for about a minute and it was of the chorus, this was used as Britney's theme song for the night every time she came to the ring or was involved in a scene. Britney announced that she would be a "fun" host and give the fans exactly what they wanted, stating that she had authority over what would happen on tonights show, stating that she even had authority over Stephanie McMahon as granted by her father, Vince.
After hearing this, Stephanie immediately approached the ring yelling into the microphone that she was "the authority" and that "some blonde perfect little pop star" wouldn't have any power over her decisions. She then got in Britney's face and told her that RAW was her show and Britney's one time appearance would have no effect on any of the matches or superstars, that Britney was just here to look pretty for the fans. Britney then took a step back and said "I will do whatever I want, because I have the power to do whatever I want and if you don't like it, you can kiss my ass", she then slapped Stephanie in the face and left the ring. As she walked up the ramp, Stephanie's face was stunned as he held her hand against her cheek feeling the effect of the slap. The gif of this slap is being posted all over tumblr and twitter, some are even adding other pop stars' faces over Stephanie to make it look like Britney is slapping other pop stars.
Later on during Monday Night Raw, Britney made her way down to the ring as "Gimme Your Best" played and announced that she saw fans were unhappy with their new WWE World Heavyweight champion, John Cena. She let fans know that he would have to defend his title as the main event of RAW against Roman Reigns and Cesaro in a triple threat match. Stephanie again came out and began to make her way to the ring but Britney was prepared this time. She shouted "NOW" into the mic as green goo fell from the top of the stadium onto Stephanie, Stephanie slipped and fell tumbling down the ramp in green slimy goo as Britney left the ring through the audience, she signed autographs and took pictures with fans as the camera moved onto the next match cleaning up the ramp and helping Stephanie up.
Britney also interrupted an encounter between The Authority, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose. After Dean competed in a physically grueling match, The Authority & Seth Rollins attempted to take advantage and "beat down" on Dean but Britney came to the ring with "Gimme Your Best" playing and an army of WWE superstars who attacked The Authority & Seth Rollins before they could take advantage of a tired Dean Ambrose.
Although John Cena was able to retain his championship in the triple threat main event, Britney received a high approval rating from WWE fans. She embarrassed Stephanie McMahon, a largely hated figure in the WWE, and gave the fans the matches they wanted while protecting the superstars they liked. Gimme Your Best was played over four times throughout the course of the three hour episode of Raw, and Raw received a huge increase in ratings as a result of Spears' guest hosting. Gimme Your Best will also be the theme song for WWE's next pay-per-view as a "thank you" for Britney's guest appearance. Throughout the show backstage scenes featured people talking about Miss Spears, super fan Dolph Ziggler said "Britney's so hot, I'm so happy she's here, I need to see her after the show is over" and the cast of Total Divas commented on her body, awesome music, and "bad bitch" attitude. The highly famous "Bella Twins" stated that they loved Britney and definitely wanted to "go partying" with her.
Britney took over Monday Night RAW tonight and "Gimme Your Best" was promoted throughout the whole show.
TINASHE RELEASES NEW SINGLE "MISTRESS" DURING POWER 106 INTERVIEW
Beauty queen and songstress Tinashe debuted her racy new single "Mistress". A Electro-hop banger than samples "Beat It" by Sean Kingston. She explains the song is a departure from her usual "deep ass ****" but that she wanted to show fans how flexible she is as an artist with mistress. The song details Tinashe as a vixen who is not interested in a serious relationship and is just looking for sex, particularly as a side chick to married or dating men.
If you've been sick of your main chick

A fade in, we hear street noise and all we can see is a small pond on New York’s street gets stepped on by a woman in red high heels and the screen fades out, The screen fades in again and we see a small pond again on New York’s street get stepped on by a woman in yellow high heels and the screen fades out, the screen is showing only the feet of the woman in these two scenes.
A fade in again,“Kylie Minogue” appears and then a fade out. A fade in once again and “Circles” appear on the screen ended by a fade out.
‘Circles’ start and a blonde Kylie is entering her apartment, opening her door and closing it, putting her coat on the coat hanger carefully and takes her blue high heels off and throws them in the floor.
‘Hanging on, to you’ Kylie sings in front of a white background looking directly to the camera, looking really pretty as usually, she’s wearing blue eye contacts and has short hair reaching to her shoulders and the hair turns into bright red on it’s tips.
we then see an attractive man brushing his teeth, he has black spiked hair, a rap industry standard beard look and brown charming eyes, he’s shirtless and is wearing track pants,
he’s getting ready for something, work perhaps?
As the music goes on we see both Kylie and the man smiling and talking to each other as the man gets ready, we know now both of them are in a relationship, the man’s wearing a suit, and Kylie is helping him get with his tie.
The man leaves the apartment and Kylie’s looking at him from her window a few levels up.
Kylie’s watches a girl wearing a very bright red high heels gets inside the car he got in. She runs to change her clothes, wears a black jacket, black pants and applies new makeup and puts puts on a brunette wig. We see her then getting inside a car with a mysterious driver (we can’t see his face), all we can see is that she’s wearing yellow high heels.
We see a new scene where a short-haired Kylie wears a string dress dancing to the song, moving sexually.
The car arrives at the airport, ‘We keep runnin’ in circles, still got you on my head, runnin' in circles, can't get through what you said’ Kylie sings again in front of a white background looking directly to the camera.
The car drops off Kylie at the airport and the camera shuffles back to her boyfriend who last time we have seen him leave the house, we see him hiding a gun below his shirt and quickly takes it out and points it at a lady, we see the lady handing a bag of white substance, cocaine is it? We think it definitely is some type of a drug.
Another man enters the place and grabs the lady from behind and covers her mouth and kidnaps her, she’s screaming and flapping ha hands while Kylie’s boyfriend gets out of the place and gets into the car heading to the apartmentKylie is seen at the airport looking around, she’s looking for something.. she looks serious.
The camera goes back to her boyfriend entering the apartment leaving his keys in the table and we see a body of a girl in the bed, we can’t see her face but we believe she’s dead. Kylie’s boyfriend hurries to cover her body up and we see her wearing red high heels, we’re confused.
We see him calling someone, a side-by-side screen thing going on and it’s Kylie in a cary on the right part and her boyfriend on the left part and they are talking angrily, Kylie closes the phone and we see her actually in a car.. a police car?!
Kylie is sitting in a police interrogation room doing nothing, a man escorts her out and then we see two men holding her left and right arm while they’re walking her outside the police station, she’s smirking looking directly in the camera, the screen goes back to her boyfriend covering the body and then we see a woman in red high heels coming from behind him pointing a gun to his head, that woman is Kylie! he turns and we hear a loud shot gun at the exact moment when the song finishes.
After the song is finished, we see Kylie leaving the apartment walking down the streets in a very crowded sidewalk and then we see a woman with blue high heels passing her. The camera follows the woman from behind while she’s walking and she has earphones and we can hear that she’s listening to Circles, she walks into the same apartment and we see her, a blonde Kylie is entering her apartment, putting her coat on the coat hanger and takes her blue high heels off.
The screen fades out and a text appear.. ‘Circles’
the video ends.
Zedd appeared on the fourth hour of TODAY along with Keri Hilson on Monday, June 30. He was interviewed and performed his songs "Clarity" and "Slay."
In the interview (transcript below), topic were discussed such as his unexpected success with this single, and his new album.
Kathie Lee Gifford: So, Zedd, what's happening with "Slay?"
Zedd: Well, it seems to be doing decently.
Hoda Kotb: Isn't that an understatement!
[ All three laugh. ]
Zedd: Anyway, it went number one on iTunes in only 29 minutes, beating the previous record set by Problem. It's still number one, actually!
Kathie Lee: Wow. Apparently this doesn't usually happen for dance singles?
Zedd: Right. Clarity never saw this type of success on iTunes.
Hoda: So about your new album...
Zedd: Yeah?
Hoda: Does "Slay" represent the sound this album will have?
Zedd: I don't think I can say that any one song can represent the entire album. Mostly every song is just so different. "Slay" was originally an ARTPOP track, but Gaga told me I should keep it.
Kathie Lee: She didn't like it?
Zedd: No, she loved it. She loved it so much that she couldn't put it on her album.
Kathie Lee: How nice of her!
Zedd: I know! There's also another song on the album that was written for ARTPOP. It actually got pretty close to being on the tracklist, and probably was going to be on Act II if she didn't cancel it. Other than that, there's some dubstep, disco, et cetera. I guess the majority of it can be represented by "Slay."
Hoda: You just said no song can represent the entirety though...
Zedd: The majority isn't the entirety.
Kathie Lee: Well, I believe it's time for a commercial break. Stay tuned for Zedd's performance of "Clarity" and "Slay!"
Zedd perfoming on TODAY
Zedd's performance started with "Clarity" and a large crowd. As Foxes could not be there, her studio vocals were played. The second verse and chorus were cut out for time. After the final chorus, "Clarity" transitioned into the beginning of "Slay." The crowd loved it! At the end of the mini-set, the crowd started chanting "Zedd! Zedd! Zedd!" Kathie Lee said, "Wow, what a wonderful performance! Zedd will also be on The Tonight Show tonight, so make sure you catch that!" The crowd cheered even more heavily after this statement.
