but now that black artists are taking over the top 40, there is an excuse that they are able to get more spins.
they got the same amount of spins 5 years ago.

They had the same amount of spins but white artsits had BIGGER SINGLE SALES. and that's why they charted so high and above black artists. Nowadays, when nobody buys cd singles [only the american idol fans], it's obvious that Black artists will ALWAYS have more chances of charting higher in tops like the Hot100.
And rodarte, the fact that you have a black artist featured in your song doesn't mean that you'll get all the adds in urban. You have no idea. And if so, then tell me... why did Boys flop?.

because all the singles in the britney era were banned by Clear channel ... the only stations that played boys were non clear channel statios.. less than 15%...
Jennifer lopez isnt black and her singles peak high in the charts when she is featuring with some random rapper...
carwash flop because the song itself sucks

Destiny's child - Lose my breath, is gonna debut inside the top 40 next week cause i know it will have more than 40 milion audience impressions.
In 4 days, it has had over 20 million, just 2 or 3 more dyas to get 20 other more audience impressions
Usually to be top 20 on the billboard u have to have like 57 milion, i think they can make it.
Be no. 1 in about 4 to 6 weeks.

not all the singles on the top back then were getting high singles sales. maybe bsb and brit.
Maybe nowadays that kind of music isn't popular. maybe people actually "enjoy" black music and that's why it's on top. but that's just my opinion.

1-Jennifer Lopez get a lot of adds in urban just for her hip hop songs featuring BIG rappers [aka LL Cool J, ja rule, etc].
2-Who cares about clear channel, Boys wouldn't have been added in urban just because it's a white artist!!!!!!.
3-Right now Tilt Ya Head back is gaining some adds on urban, just because it's nelly!.
4-You have no idea of what you're talking. I mean, Wouldn't toxic have gone top5 if it wasn't for the bunch of rappers ahead of her?.

That's debatable because rap appeals to more of an audience then pop. To the pop audience though, that song was god compared to the rap songs ahead of her on the Hot 100.

i don't know about rap appealing to a bigger audience.
and of course there are different opinions of songs that should be on top. i'm saying that just 'cause white artists aren't on top anymore doesn't mean they have to make up excuses for 'em.
like saying it's 'cause singles aren't selling as much anymore.

Basically, what it boils down to is that R&B, hip-hop, and rap (the 3 main styles of music that many popular black artists today record) songs are played on 3 formats: Rhythmic, Urban, and Pop, while pop (a style of music that many popular white artists record) songs only get played on Pop (with the exception of more pop/rock oriented songs that also get some Hot AC airplay). There are of course exceptions to the rule, but those are the general trends.

toxic is not r&B or hip hop, its trip-hop, which is a kind of music which is very unpupular in USA, while Carwash is hip hop.
ANd missy ellios is a BIG RAPPER...
and, Boys,i'm slave 4 U get Spins on URBAN(not like 1000, but they were played on urban stations) ...

AMEN.
By the way, maybe it's me or Car wash is one of the "poppest" songs Christina has ever done. And toxic is pure "cool pop".

hahah, isn't funny. how you tried to justified xtina, Missy elliot in the poppest christina's song? LMAO
and toxic is trip hop, but pop, because is POPular (like smell like a teen spirit was pop because the song was popular)

i know there is only 1 hiphop/rnb station in my area and 1 pop. and only "popular" hiphop and rnb artists get played on the pop stations. 80% of the songs played on rap stations wouldn't even be thought of at a pop radio station. but a new rock group or pop artist (or black artist with pop songs) will easily get their stuff played on pop stations.

Good point. There are a lot of R&B, hip-hop, and rap songs that don't cross over, but those that do tend to get huge airplay on Pop radio.
