Miley Cyrus is heading back to the small screen.

The former Disney star, who appeared on the season premiere of Two and a Half Men, is in talks to star as Bonnie in a Lifetime/History telepic, Bonnie & Clyde. The film, the first of its kind to air on both AETN networks, is being produced by Smash EPs Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who are set up at Sony Pictures TV. Cyrus is said to be meeting with directors.

The move follows a growing push by A&E Networks president of entertainment and media Nancy Dubuc to bet big on big names and established titles in the scripted space. Later this fall, Lifetime will roll out Liz & Dick, starring another tabloid-friendly former child star Lindsay Lohan.

Cyrus is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Edelstein Laird; Meron and Zadan, who recently signed on to produce the Academy Awards, are repped by CAA and Morris Yorn.

Ahh! Did y'all see this? I know most of you aren't even here for her acting ATM ( ) but I think it's really great that she's signing onto acting roles while recording the album. I think it works out as good cross promotion because literally every article I've read about her job on Two & A Half Men has mentioned that she's got a new album coming soon. Plus I'm always here for new Miley movies, hopefully this is a slow transition into her doing theatrical movies again. I want her overall box office gross to pass $1 billion.

It would be great if it had a good visibility in the US, it would be useful before the era starts, she really needs it.

I agree. But on a slightly related note I actually checked Google Trends, and searches for Miley are higher now in the US than they've been since 2010. I think the interest is definitely there, she just has to keep staying busy and visible until she releases the album.

I would die if she does the mini-series. mini-series are usually good for Emmys especially if its a Lifetime/History one.

Miley Cyrus seems to be enjoying her time on the small screen. The former ‘Hannah Montana’ starlet recently wrapped filming a guest arc on ‘Two and a Half Men,’ and now she’s in talks to play a bank robber in ‘Bonnie and Clyde!’

Cyrus is currently meeting with directors to discuss taking on the role of Bonnie Parker in the upcoming Lifetime/History Channel dual project, per The Hollywood Reporter. The miniseries will be the first to air on both the History Channel and Lifetime (both of which are AETN networks) and will be helmed by ‘Smash‘ directors Neil Meron and Craig Zadan — does that mean it’s a musical?! (We sorta hope so!)

‘Bonnie and Clyde’ will be the next in a series of miniseries and cable movies featuring marquee names. Kevin Costner won an Emmy for his work in the History Channel miniseries ‘Hatfields & McCoys,’ while tabloid queen Lindsay Lohan got her first starring role in what seems like forever as Elizabeth Taylor in ‘Liz & Dick.’

Y'all are a mess. One of the things that made Miley so huge in the first place was her ability to slay all three major formats, TV + Music + Film simultaneously. I think it's a good move either way. You always talk about how you wish Miley would stay visible and keep taking jobs but then say it's a bad idea when she does. Worst case scenario, it gets bad reviews and then everyone forgets about it a week later. Either way Miley's still getting paid.

By the way I updated the OP again (finally) after months of putting it off I put in the awards she's won/been nominated for recently and added her soundtrack sales + various other album sales.

Same. Seems like most stans really just want music. But Im totally here for acting. I love her as an actress and we really shouldn't turn up our noses at promo. We should take it if we get he chance. I want her new era to slay!!

Exactly. I mean I was disappointed in 2010 when she said she was just doing acting and going on a music hiatus, but I don't get why people are upset that we're getting both. Her performance in LOL surprised me and I'm excited to see if she's improved even more.

She sold like 15 million records in 2009 alone, while filming The Last Song - while touring - while Hannah Montana: The Movie was slaying at the box office - while the third season of Hannah was airing - while recording Can't Be Tamed. People act like Miley's never done more than one project at once before.

!!!! They're all like "She should concentrate on music, but she has always recording music in between movies and tv. They under estimate her power Flop stans tbh.
