I've probably said this before but I still stand by my opinion of One Direction being pop perfection. I'm not talking about a particular song or album, I'm talking about them. Their entire brand. It's sad to see a lot of people (both ATRL members and the public) brush off the guys just because of the boy band stigma, but when you look into their craft, there is something so amazing there.

I feel like they hit the nail on the head every time, to the point where it doesn't matter that "What Makes You Beautiful", "One Thing", and "Live While We're Young" are carbon copies of each other. The guitar melodies, the vocal layering, the way they are embedded in pop-rock while simultaneously experimenting with more electronic melodies ("C'mon C'mon", "Save You Tonight", "Everything About You"), the whole country-rock Americana vibe ("Summer Love"), and even a subtle 90's R&B influence in "They Don't Know About Us". Let's not forget about the suicidal love ballad; "Moments".

As mentioned only a couple of pages ago, the guys have an awesome amount of talent, too. Again, it's a shame that this is overlooked considering they're in a boy band, but the talent is there. Especially lately as they grow into their own shoes as performers, songwriters, and further perfect their vocals.

Their music is more consistent than a lot of ATRL's favourite pop girls, if I'm being honest. If it's not broke, don't fix it. It's only the second album. In saying that, I expect more of a shift genre-wise with the third album, coming up this November.

...just felt like writing a mini essay about One Direction.

I hope with future albums (if they get there "boy bands" usually have a 3 album shelf life =/) that they have more input in their music. Because while their music is catchy I don't think they enjoy the music that they are doing. But one direction is very throwback to the other boy groups of the 90's to me so that's really why I am so attracted to them as a whole.
