Do NOOOT let Perfume stain your view of J-Pop. When it comes to groups Korea > Japan. You should have started with one of the divas tbh. I recommend Utada Hikaru, Namie Amuro and Koda Kumi.

Not all Japanese music sounds like that, at least not what I listen to. But I do REALLY love one Perfume song, but it's not really anything like their regular music and most of their fans really don't care for it as it's kinda eh...slow and wistful I guess...
But it might be easier to start with the big divas and then find what your taste will be from there.

I'm totally aware of that, Britneyfan09 helped me see the light.
He turned me into a Koda stan, and suggested a couple of Namie songs. (Past < Future is flawless, Wild ***** on discographies), and I already know Utada.
