Take It Off wasn't a mistake as a single. I remember when Animal came out, Take It Off was in everyone I know playlist and everyone LOVED it. About the gay guys part, I'm a straight guy and all my friends are straight and each one of them loved TIO.
The problem with Take It Off not smashing was that it was a 4th single and everyone overplayed it so it was old for them the time it was a single.
