The chorus is cheesy, but along with the verses it's beautiful imo. In real life do we refer to our personal relationships with interesting metaphors?? Nah, TGYTIA is a real life father-daughter song. It's things that we actually think about our fathers and daughters. It doesn't have to be innovative for it to be great. All it has to do is make you feel something, and anyone who can relate to it will surely be able to.
