JAMIESON COX: Here's a bold claim: Katy Perry has never sounded better than she does on "Dark Horse." She has more powerful and rangy performances in her repertoire, sure, but that simple trap-pop beat draws out a sneer and a bit of attitude, giving a vocalist who tends toward the bland some character. Of course, it doesn't get much more technically impressive than "Let It Go," which remains an impressive showcase for powerhouse Idina Menzel. But when it comes to this matchup, I'm opting for slinky menace over inspirational pap.
My Vote: "Dark Horse"
NICK WILLIAMS: "Dark Horse" just has so many hooks layered in it -- the trappy, broody production gives Perry a really unique sonic springboard for her vocals, which twist and turn in extremely dynamic ways here. I was really put off by the Egyptian-themed video, but as a pop song it's just a really innovative blend of genres. And I think it’s pretty impressive that it wasn’t even supposed to be a single.
I wanted LL, but bring on that 3rd single Katty! WOA better hit #1 so she can finally release LL as a 4th single and finally close the era with Double Rainbow or ITT feat. Sam Smith!
I can already smell DH winning ha Grammy! (insert Katy crying gif)
Are they testing the waters or it will be for real a single? i like the songs but honestly i feel this will flop horrible just like GUY did well maybe not that bad if Katy give some promo in the SB it could chart ok but i just can't imagine this song in her setlist
Acceptance is the key. I think it's time for her to start practising what she preaches. They killed this album half year ago. This is beyond stupid and asking for her own G.U.Y. I hope her boss is smarter than that.

I'm sure she can sell more than 30k What's wrong with WoA tbh, except they stopped promoting the album a while ago? I like that song.
I actually really like the idea of Walking on Air as a single. I hope they will release it.
I don't think it will smash or anything, but they released the two most immature-sounding Prism songs in a row and then just left the era. A little damage control can't hurt!
Birthday is so good. Best single of this era.
I remember jamming to it on my birthday last year on Dec 17 when it wasn't a single yet,
lemme do it again tomorrow
