Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton, the two singers behind the musical duo Alex & Sierra, dominated the competition during the Dec. 4 episode of "The X Factor" USA 2013 on FOX with a pair of incredible cover performances. The news got even better for the rising stars after the broadcast, as their rendition of A Great Big World's "Say Something" shot to the top of the iTunes top 400 singles chart on the morning of Dec. 5.
The track broke into the top 10 in the wee hours of Dec. 5, and held steady at number two behind Pitbull's "Timber" before leapfrogging to number one at roughly 9 AM Pacific time.
Deaton, 22, seemed stunned and humbled by her accomplishment as she tweeted "WE'RE NUMBER ONE ON ITUNES I'M DONE I'M DONE STICK A FORK IN ME I'M DONE."
The boyfriend/girlfriend duo has enjoyed great success with iTunes music customers throughout their tenure on the show. As of press time, a whopping five of their tracks held positions on the top 400 chart. In addition to their number one hit, their second offering from the Dec. 4 show, a creative remix of the Destiny's Child original "Say My Name," ranked 15th; their take on One Direction's "Best Song Ever" ranked 54th; their big band version of Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" ranked 87th; and their sultry spin on "Addicted to Love" rested in 173rd.
The mentors and viewers alike love their creative remixes and their ability to bring a sense of passion and meaning to every song they sing, and their tremendous talent combined with their humility make them very attractive potential winners.
Although their position not only in the Dec. 11 semifinals as well as the Dec. 18 final round shouldn't be in question, anything can happen when America is charged with the vote. To see if Alex & Sierra advance to the semis, watch "The X Factor" USA 2013 top six results show Dec. 5 on FOX.
