LMAO. "Dignity" debuted the lowest of any of her albums. Like "Santa Clause Lane" even counts. = /

Actually now Metamorphosis has officially sold 4 million copies, and Hannah Montana wont probably even reach 3.7 million copies anyway, plus Hilary Duff's Metamorphosis only had 2 singles and it was still able to surpass 3 million and Hannah Montana is not only a show but she has 7+ songs getting played on radio disney plus like 5 videos playing on Disney Channel. Miley Cyrus can actually sing though considering music was part of her whole life, her dad being a country singer. But wen Miley releases her debut album it wont sell as much as the Hannah Montana soundtrack.

We should see about that. And I remember when Hilary's "Greatest Hits" album was released, they did nothing but play Hilary's videos. And the Hannah Montana album didnt have NEARLY as much promo as a Hilary Duff cd and still debuted at #1 with over 203,000 and spent 2 weeks at the top spot. I mean, the Cheetah Girls last two albums outsold Hilary's last two albums. (I now know that from somewhere else). But whatever.

Hilary Duff's Most Wanted CD didnt have every track on it played on radio disney cus if it did it probably would have sold that much to. Only kids are buying Hannah Montana's CD, once Miley releases her solo album this year she will not only have to appear for a younger aduience but also an older one if she wants her single to be played on pop radio.
To me I feel like Dignity is like Hilary releasing her first CD all over again because its a new sound and it much more mature than her previous albums. Not to mention this album wasnt backed up by Disney this time.

I don't know about Hannah Montana not reaching 4 million, as she's already gotten 2.4 million and still rising. It's gonna be close, but I have no idea why "Metamorphosis" sold sooo much. It just seems like it was another Disney fad, like "High School Musical" was. Radio Disney doesn't mean anything, so Hilary Duff wil always have more promo than Miley Cyrus.

would be fun to read the whole top 200, but thanx!
OMG at all the flops on the list!...and sadly norah jones really underperforms, i don´t see her suddenly pick up like that again and sell millions...james morrisson flopped, as did frattellis, kaiser chiefs, elton john, mika etc...alot of british acts, the only one that does really good (but not amazing though) is the wonderful amy winehouse!!
and why doesn´t more peolpe see the greatness of arcade fire!? "neon bible" is the best album of 2007 so far!
and finally, a big YAY for christina!!...declining single, no promo (the tour, but it´s old), still high priced..and UP 51,6%!!

Temptation I love you for posting this hahaha... well, you know what i mean...
Sales are so bad very few artist have crossed the 1 million mark (only 15 albums or so in the whole top50!!!! )... at this pace in a few years we will be lucky if an album goes platinum or even gold oh well...

Chart was re-run due to a processing error -- only two positions impacted were Martina and Hilary switch places:
-- 3 DUFF*HILARY DIGNITY 140,332 999 65 140,441
-- 4 MCBRIDE*MARTINA WAKING UP LAUGHING 138,666 999 56 138,291
i got the from the pulse boards so i guess that means hilary's actually #3

No, that was BEFORE the actual charts were announced on Billboard. The person who posted the album sales at Pulse got the right info when he posted it again. Martina is at #3 with 143,000 while Duff is at #4 with 140,000.

well this article states that Hilary was the highest debuting artist this week????? so i have no idea what is going on?
Hilary Duff marks another career milestone this week, by taking the highest selling debut on this week's Nielsen's Soundscan chart. Dignity marks the first album Hilary Duff wrote, a new musical style and a more mature look. The album was released April 3 on Disney's Hollywood Records.
Bob Cavallo, Chairman of Disney's Hollywood Records, commented, "Hilary
delivered on this record. It reflects her growth as a career artist. She
worked tirelessly with the whole Hollywood Records staff to market this
record, and today's chart debut is a testament to that."
The debut followed a massive media blitz which included an MTV
documentary-type special, "This Is Now," a cover of USA Today, rave print
reviews, hosting TRL for a week, widespread retail presence, appearances on
Good Morning America, Kid's Choice, Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and
Ellen, massive online coverage on MySpace and Yahoo, as well as a radio
audience of over 11 million listeners.
Hilary Duff is no stranger to the top of the charts. She has had two
number one albums with "Metamorphosis" and "Most Wanted." With the release of "Dignity" there have been many number ones, including "With Love" being
the #1 most added song at Top 40 Radio and multiple number one slots on
MTV's TRL.
Hilary teamed with Grammy-Award winning Kara DioGuardi (Gwen Stefani,
***** Cat Dolls, Enrique Iglesias), as well as top producer/songwriters
like Chico Bennett & Richard Vission (Madonna, Usher, The Killers), Tim &
Bob (Nas, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez), Vada Nobles (Rhianna, Lauryn Hill,
Faith Evans), Fred Wreck (Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Fergie), Will.I.Am, Rhett
Lawrence, and her sister Haylie.
Hilary Duff gained worldwide recognition in 2001 starring in the hit
Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire. In May 2003, she brought her
character to the big screen with Walt Disney Pictures' The Lizzie McGuire
movie. She went on to co-star in films like Agent Cody Banks, Cheaper By
The Dozen, Cinderella Story, Raise Your Voice, Perfect Man, and Material
Girls. She recently wrapped War, Inc. in Bulgaria, in which she stars with
John Cusack, Sir Ben Kingsley and Marisa Tomei. Hilary also recently
launched her own Elizabeth Arden perfume With Love and a new line of Stuff
by Hilary Duff. Hilary has sold over 13 million records worldwide.

Ok it's official Hilary debuted at #3!

Amid five new releases debuting in the top 10 this week, the "NOW 24" hits compilation rises to the top of The Billboard 200 in its second week on the chart. Climbing 2-1, the set moved 213,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, a 7% drop from last week's sales. Despite a 46% drop in sales, last week's chart-topper, Tim McGraw's "Let It Go" (Curb), only slips to No. 2, moving 177,000 units.
Hilary Duff scores her fourth straight top five debut this week with "Dignity," which climbs on at No. 3 with 140,000. The Hollywood release is the pop vocalist's fifth album, which includes her first holiday-themed set "Santa Claus Lane" and 2005's hits collection "Most Wanted." The latter album bowed at No. 1 with 208,000.
Martina McBride's RCA album "Waking Up Laughing" enters the chart with 139,000 at No. 4, her second best charting position yet. The country singer's 2006 covers release, "Timeless," started at No. 3 but sold more, at 185,000.
He's leant a hand to a number of other artists' chart-topping efforts recently (namely, Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado), but this week Timbaland earns chart ink for his own album, "Timbaland Presents Shock Value" at No. 5. Moving 138,000 copies, "Shock Value" (Mosley Music Group/Interscope) becomes the best charting and selling set of his solo career. His previous best was 2001's collaboration with Magoo, "Indecent Proposal," which debuted with 79,000 at No. 29.
Beyonce's "B'Day" pole-vaults 69-6 thanks to the release of a new double-disc version of the album with six new songs. That translates to a 903% gain to 126,000 units. Daughtry's self-titled RCA debut falls 6-7 despite a 48% sales increase at 98,000 copies.
Paul Wall's "Get Money, Stay True" (Swishahouse/Asylum/Atlantic) debuts at No. 8 with 92,000 copies. His last set, 2005's "The Peoples Champ" lived up top its title, crashing in at No. 1 with 176,000. Akon's "Konvicted" (SRC/Universal) slips 5-9 with 75,000 copies, a sales increase of 12%.
Country/bluegrass veteran Alison Krauss notches her best charting position ever with "A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection" (Rounder) at No. 10 with 73,000. Her previous high came in 1995, when another compilation "Now That I've Found You: A Collection," reached No. 13.
The trio of Alan Jackson, George Strait and Jimmy Buffett score the No. 11 spot with "Live at Texas Stadium," a 15-song live album from a 2004 Dallas concert. The MCA Nashville album sold 67,000.
Chicago rock act Chevelle's Epic set "Vena Sera" enters at No. 12 with 62,000, short of the No. 8/89,000 entry of 2004's "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)." Meanwhile, Blue Collar comedian Larry The Cable Guy's "Morning Constitutions" (Warner Bros.) bows at No. 16 with 56,000. His last album, "The Right to Bare Arms," started at No. 7 in 2005 with 92,000.
Other big debuts this week include a sales and charting best for Kings Of Leon with the RCA set "Because of the Times" (No. 25, 42,000); the Academy Is...' "Santi" (Atlantic, No. 32, 33,000); Static X's "Cannibal" (Warner Bros.) at No. 36 with 30,000; and the Almost's "Southern Weather" (Tooth & Nail) at No. 39 with 29,000. Shadows Fall, Black Sabbbath, Brandi Carlile, J. Moss, Anthony Hamilton and Fountains Of Wayne also boast debuts on The Billboard 200.
Album sales are up 15.7 % from last week's total at 10.6 million units and down 5.1 % compared to the same week last year.

What a travesty. On both of the last posts. Talent is really going down the toilet these days.
