Ireland are still organising & drafting plans. The government are co-ordinating with the Irish Red Cross & so far it looks like they've
agreed to take 4,000 mainly from Greece & Italy, but they're taking some from countries neighbouring Syria too. This figure could change because some officials are
meeting in Luxembourg on October 8th & 9th & it looks like they're going to take more. They want to set up
integration programmes but they're figuring out where to put integration centres because there's a homelessness crisis in Dublin. They reckon
it will cost Ireland €48million to accommodate 4000 & they actually
predict the numbers will be a lot greater than that as people move to be with their family etc.
Northern Ireland (part of the UK) will take 2000 Syrian refugees even though/because their government is in crisis & they're on the verge of collapsing at present.
The Irish government have a really impressive track record for humanitarian efforts so I wouldn't be surprised if they took on more responsibility before long.
